Hi all

Just wondering if it's too much to expect a Dealer to give me a call to let me know roughly when my car will arrive?

I phoned them this morning over 3 weeks since I paid my deposit on my Punto Abarth SuperSport. I was told I would get a phone call back from the guy I dealt with in the Dealership. I got nothing, and was passing the garage on my way home from shopping today so popped in, he was with customers but on his way out to a car on the forecourt assured me he'd call before the dealership closed. I am still waiting on that phone call.

I know as I spec'd a few bits and bobs on it that it was a Factory order. I was told to expect delivery between 7-12 weeks but I'd just like a rough idea if they know it's going to be sooner rather than later etc.

Am I being unreasonable to expect a courtesy call or could it be a sign of things to come?

I don't think you're being unreasonable at all. When we had our Mk4 Panda on order (which, eventually, was cancelled, for technical reasons... -- although the dealer also handled that very well...), I would receive a call or email from the dealer at least every week... -- and from week one...! Admittedly, this was a family-run firm (although, really, this shouldn't make any difference...) -- but, to be honest, from personal experience, I would say that many dealers are cr*p at customer service; and (like many other institutions), once they've got your money/order, don't give a d*mn.... (n)

Not returning a call -- unless there's a valid reason (which I doubt... -- feel free to call me an old cynic...) -- is appalling, in my book, as well....

If they said between 7-12 weeks i wouldn't be expecting a phone call before 7 weeks to be honest. dentist check ups are ever 6 months, dentist don't ring you ever 3 weeks to ask if you have a tooth ache

Personally for me that's bad customer service, When I used to work as a Business Advisor for a technology company I was forever giving customers status updates on whereabouts of their products.

Even if it's a phone call to say "we've not got a fixed date yet" would satisfy me completely, The chasing of it is ridiculous. Bearing in mind my parents have just bought a car from another manufacturer and the service they received was worlds apart.

Lack of information just leads to frustrated customers

Why is it bad customer service?
Was it bad when you put deposit down for the car?
Maybe he just busy and cant ring every customer that has placed a factory order...
7 to 12 week for car to arrive, only 3 weeks gone by... so you want dealer to ring you once a week to give you a countdown or to tell you that he doesnt know when car will arrive?
I personally much rather have one phone call saying "your car is here" or "your car will be here in a week"
I dont see any lack of information but maybe thats just me:confused:

Dis-agree with you their mate, you don't spend that amount of money on a car and get left out in the wilderness waiting to find out when it has arrived. I agree that a call every week would be too much but certainly the onus is on the salesman to ensure the buyer doesn't get cold feet and pull the sale - surely!:p
