its costing me over £1000 to get a new head gasket, the head skimmed, new plugs, new HT leads, 2 front shocks, possibly a new Cat and top section (as i just replaced the centre + backbox), a full MOT and a few little jobs like seatbelts returning properly, that kinda crap... is this a TOTAL rip-off? i'd rather leave it with a fiat dealer and have some sort of come-back if anything else goes wrong... advice please guys...

If its any help I have had three front shock quotes of £285 Currie Motors -Fiat dealer, £175 local garage, £200 ATS. So thats part of your £1k!

What's the breakdown of those costs?

My Fiat Dealership just quoted me something like £405 + VAT + Labour just for the CAT on my Punto MK2 - a look on teh net has found me a brand new CAT for about £47 inc VAT and Delivery and 2 year warranty
