Ramp Hire Local Garages

I recently saw a feature on About Anglia where a garage in the East Midlands had seen a down turn in business, so they started hiring out ramps which were not being used at £25 an hour so that the DIY mechanic could do jobs on his motor, etc.

Does anyone in the Peterborough or surrounding areas offer such a service as it'd be useful and a lot easier than trying to get under the car on the drive all the time?

That's not much cheaper than getting the mechanic to do your work (with mates rates you'd be cheaper getting them to do it for you lol)

My local dealership charges £89 an hour labour!

but you are not getting a det or ecu updates for that 25 quid, you be better off spending it on a set of axle stands and a trolley jack

Sounds like a health and safety nightmare for the garage!

Autopia Service Centre in Darwen, Lancs does this.

Great facility! Health and Safety is a concern of the owner who has created a manual full of risk assesments and safety tips for most jobs, has the relevant insurance and disclamers to sign.

Much cheaper than the one you mention too.

I bet there`s quite a few second hand ramps around with the amount of dealerships etc that have gone through A garage i worked in before got all new MAHA ramps. The 'timing' was out which caused one side to got up faster than the other.

The only one i know of is a few miles from me, North-West London, but that's about 2 hours from you.

Hope its busier than this thread..

I wanted to do exhaust and engine mount work in our conveniently local place... but their lease doesnt allow 'hot work'
