All,

Having picked up a 57 plate Punto Mjet (1.3) this weekend, I want to get it serviced as its not been done since last year.

Bearing in mind I can do all this myself, I would idealy like the nice stamp in the service book so have to bite the bullet and get it done at a garage.

I just called Glyn Hopkins along Hatfield Road. They said I could have an interim service as the mileage is still very low (16k) or go for a full 2 year service.

Interim service is £200, that for oil and filter. Yes, just oil and filter!

Full service is Oil, oil filter, fuel pollon air filters plus brake fluid change. £300.

I couldn't restrain myself and actually laughed down the phone at him (really, I'm not usually like that and I honestly couldn't help it!!).

So, can anyone recomend a garage in the St Albans area (not Fiat) that can service a car and stamp the book, who they trust?!

I'm completely on that page...

Look on here and call someone with good feeedback for a quote.

Cheers guys. I've just dropped Paul an email. Is he able to stamp up service books too do you know?

I'm happy to use people / companies like him rather than main dealers. I did a bit of work a few years back helping a friend out at weekends for a similar sort of small business, he was more of a tuner though.

Cheers

Any garage is able to stamp your book...... Go for a VAT registered one and get them to use OEM or equivalent parts and follow the schedule and this shouldn't affect your remaining warranty (y)

(although its unlikely they will be able to turn your service light off, However it goes off eventually according to people on here))

St.Albans - glyn hopkin is entirely shocking. they are over priced and any problem you have seems a bigger deal for them. i used them for my warranty work, however would rather go somewhere else in the future.

when quoted from them for a service, i too got quoted £300. this included for petrol flushing liquid. which you can get half price next door from R-tec and pour into the petrol container youself.

Not pleased with them

Hi mate,

there is another thread in the GP section in relation to service costs.

Also try Arnold Clark website for info.

;)

Palmers Watford have quoted £480 for a 2nd service (2 years old 35500 miles) on my GP 1.3MJ - surely this is wrong?

They quoted me £1800 to change the timing belt on my Fiat Coupe. I went to Solo Italia in Oxford in the end who did the job for £400.

Does anyone have any experience with APC Motors on Euston Avenue in Watford?
