im be given a list of fiat specialists in my area and i was just wondering if anyone on here have used any of these places and if so what are they like?

bearings af in thornbury, bradford
turin motors in meanwood, leeds
alfa tech in huddersfield

unfortunatly my fiat specialist betacar has closed down so need someone where else for my bravo hgt to go

I had my old 156 Selespeed looked at by CW Lear in Keighley, straight up nice bloke, years of experience and heard lots of good things about him on the alfa156 forums. Mainly alfa but does lots of fiats too, he had a few fiats in when I took my old car to him.

He got my old alfa on the examiner when it was having problems to calbrate the gearbox and stuff, and gave me some free advice that ulitmately sorted it out.

And I had one of my old bravos and coupe serviced a few times by Turin motors a few years ago before they moved, very nice guys too. The first time I took it there my debit card wasnt working for some reason and I was twenty quid short so he let me off till the next day..

Wyn Lear (cwlear) in keighley serviced my alfa 155 for years and did mostly sound job at decent price. fantastic garage from another world on little cobbled street.

My own experience of Turin Motors is not good - they messed up two jobs on my alfa (just after they started advertising alfa service/repairs).

Moved to cullingworth three years ago and realised betacar were in village! great I thought - now they have closed !

Bearings - are they relatively new 'specialist' - never heard of them when i had\ alfa - only came across them about three years ago - have heard of one 'good' experience and one not so good. Think its best to find decent local garage rather than specialist - anybody can call themselves 'specialist'although wyn lear definitely is.

A decent local can only go on what documentation they can get. If you had a coupe for example and wanted the cambelt changing accoring to the documentation they'd have the engine out.

A specialist would know it is actually possible in the bay.

Just got my car back from having some work done by Bearings AF.

First impressions they appear a little laid back, but are very knowlegeable guys. They are rebuilding a couple of 156GTA's.

Anyway, I had Selespeed flush/purge, oil/filter change and a new lower arm fitted by them - another mechanic reckoned it was the steering rack? TBH it took them a couple of days to price the job, which I couldnt understand but I live very local and wasnt in a rush.

Got the work done quicker than expected so I picked the car up at lunchtime rather than the evening.

All in all, very impressed. Very chatty and let you in the workshop to show you what they are doing and explain things to you.

The guy I was talking to there said that Wyn Lear had retired now...
