kit car project

Introduction

Just before christmas i got introduced to a nice haynes manual called "how to build a kit car for £250". Its the basis of a now popular kit car known as the locost (low cost)

Well after reading and lots of internet research I was hooked and now 8 months down the road i have lots of work to show for!

For those who arent familiar these cars are the same style as a Westfield, caterham etc. using a chassis constructed from Square section, and parts from donor vehicles.

so im at the stage now where i have a constructed chassis and now working on running gear.

the rear end uses the axle from a mk1/2 escort. There are also other versions of chassis that uses the sierra set up providing independant rear suspension.

The original plan was to use a 1300 crossflow engine from early escorts, fiestas and cortinas to get the car up and running and on the road and then transplant in a larger engine. However i decided that this was a long way around and alot of work so now i have a 1800 zetec from a escort :D
