Introduction
A bit of an impulse buy after deciding I needed a more practical daily driver, this popped up locally and more importantly cheap. Always fancied an Abarth but IMO the best looking is the Abarth Grande Punto, problem is they're pretty thin on the ground these days and as far as I could find in my research, not as dynamic as the 500.
So here we go,
I think its fairly boggo aside from having the sky dome, which my first ever car (2006 GP) had, and the 17" wheels. It had some heko wind deflectors on it but I wasn't very keen so they've come off.
It was very cheap so its not without issue, the passenger door often wont open from the outside, I understand this is the hinge on the handle and very common?
There is a knocking from the suspension, I'm fairly certain this is a drop link as it looks knackered, already bought one just need to fit.
AC doesn't do anything, hoping to whack some gas in it but we'll see...
First things first anytime I buy a car is get the rubbish tyres off and on this occasion some Pirelli P Zero nero's on.
Someone has tinted the taillights at some point, not to my taste so need to investigate if I can remove the tint or just buy some lights from a breakers... I am sorely tempted by these I must admit.
Then a quick oil & filter change for peace of mind as I've no idea what grade is in it. Oil filter housing is in a bit of a stupid place but not difficult (unlike another car of mine...)
Then a trip to Bristol where I stopped at some services en-route, coming back to the car to find this pair parked next to me
I hung around for a bit for the owners to come back but I had to get on my way so I don't really know anything about either car, I think the blue one had 'Marlin' written on its grille.
I can't get over how insane the factory exhaust sounds, its a great noise!
That's pretty much where I'm up to. At the moment the goal is just to tidy it up, fix the niggles and see how I get on with it.
@ben does this mean I am allowed to come back on the FF stand at events?
