PS3 is Great! been playing it all morning. just waiting for updates to download so i'm on here. it's quieter than a PS2!! and the games are stunning especially formula one. haven't yet tryed call of duty yet but it looks to be good as well.

Much is the retail price for one of these?

apparently i was the second in my town to get one though that might just be from argos. not quite sure. well anyway you can download Gran turismo HD demo sort of thing. though its been taking quite a while to download.

so quiter than ps2? how does it run with a game/dvd in the drive re noise.

You can't here the drive at all,not a sound. Makes you wonder why the 360 was so noisy. Infact the whole machine is quieter.

The OS is the same as a PSP and it works well.

I have so far played,,

Formula 1 - Alot better than the critics would say.
Motorstorm - Average racer really.


I have watched,,

Black Hawk Down - Amazing clarity, alot better than HD DVD imho.

The sound via Fibre Optic is absolutely outstanding and the picture via HDMi is awesome at 1080i, this console was made for my TV.

Dare I say it, so far its better than the 360. Allthough I feel where the 360 shines is Xbox Live, but only spent 25% of my gaming time online anyway.


Coming from a Xbox fan thats saying something.

The Xbox360's GPU is known to be better than the PS3s anyway. It's all Sony hype.

Just played the GT HD demo, OMFG

anyway i will agree from what ive read the PS3 is a much more polished machine especially for media functionality.
TBH M$ have only themselves to blame as i cant believe no one in the R&D stage raised the noise issue.
as for media playback,pictures etc then this could be remidied via software upgrades so is less of an issue.
the fact the more recent 360's use a different dvd drive which is noticably quieter shows that it could have been fixed before release.
although i think sony may have been better externalising the PSU and shriking its size a little

Excellent any ideas if it'll play uk region blu-rays?

Think i'll get me one the price is to good to miss

unknown on regions but i would want to know if it will be able to log onto thew sony server for firmware updates

You can update the firmware via the MXG in system settings . Its dead easy . Did mine with no problems at all. The PS3 is region free, got a US copy of Blackhawk Down which plays fine.

games are region free but i dont think the BR discs are.
i did a bit of searching and it seems the BR player is region coded

Ahh ummm, now it's a harder decision lol

was reading up on the only real reported fault so far.
seems to be an issue with some HD displays not reporting back to the PS3 over HDMI quickly enough,creating a flashing picture.
dependant on the tv and whether you can update the firmware it may not be fixable
