Well the demo is out....not sure how I feel about it, forza handling is present ish it feels familiar (maybe same physics but with all assists off you can pin the the throttle in a viper midcorner so think they've turned grip levels up). Graphics seem a step down from fm4 but expected that as its open world also has a full day and night cycle with illuminated interiors etc. Some neat touches like if you have a Kinect your sat nav in game takes voice commands, and I've tried it and it works even with a Geordie accent...

Not sure overall tho.

yet to play the demo but from what iv seen it looks a bit need for speed meets burnout but more realistic.

they really done well with 4 and i thought the next one would get even better but they seem to have tried taking a different route which personally i dont think will work.

I really need to play the demo tbh

Played the Demo over the last couple of days, Its good, but initial thoughts is Burnout.
Handling is good but not as realistic as F4, Physics are a step down too :/ 125mph head on colision with a truck, didnt flip and the rear end didnt jump up :/

But its good enough to buy! haha
If anyone works out how to drive different cars once youve completed all the challenges in the demo, let me know! Im fed up of driving the emotionless EVOX around haha.
jip0, Bet you cant beat my record on the average speed check camera section on the top road ;) 132mph!! Almost seems like nothing compared to the 158mph thats topping the world rankings atm!!!

Tom

Ive had Horizon pre-ordered since Game put it up (Limited Edition).
Love the demo, looking forward to its release.

Anyone actually bought it?
Its bloody amazing!!!
Managed to make 4.5million on online pureskill races and bought the 1 million cr Koenigsegg :D Set a speed camera off at 244mph and am now 1019th in the international leaderboards ;)
Then my mate smashed my score and got it at 249mph and got down to 400th :(
But 268mph on a motorway is so fun!!!

Anyone bought the Abarth 595 and put the 500 abarth engine in it? Its too quick and handles like a gokart!! 600kg and 155bhp without upgrades

Got 81 out of 100 discount boards, racked up 9 million CR :D
Need to play some more singleplayer festival races! Im still on blue band! Got a friend with 1000GS and 100% roads driven and signs collected!! :(

Peugeot 205 GTI Turbo 16 = Such a fast car when fully upgraded to R2 class!!!!

Lancia Delta Integrale + Lancia Delta S4 engine + upgraded turbo + long tunnel = SIREN! Its SOO loud!

Decided its better than I thought it was...Shame the car roster is so curtailed but being able to cruise round with full day and night in an open world makes up for it.

Some photos of my current beast from the east.. top photo is worth clicking on for full size as its at full resolution

So is it worth my hard earned cash people?

I played FM4 far too much and still play it to this day. I can't see that Horizon is as good as FM4 though as it seems to be a sort of side game until Forza 5 is released, how does driving on the open road compare to mainly track stuff? Tempted to get the new NFS but the last 2 I purchased were so awful, so so soooo awful infact lol forza sounds like the better option and possibly the open road racing will cure the need for the new NFS also (y)

essentially, is it worth it's large price tag? I'm the sort of person to wait for a preowned one in a few months at a better price but I do buy some games full price if they are really worth it ;)

Hmm its not FM4 and never was gonna be its much cooler in some ways, but also not as good in others.
You cannot tune cars, you can buy upgrades but all the suspension settings and gear ratios etc are fixed so no spending hours tweaking to get it just so.
I was not gonna buy it new but caved just before it came out and pretty glad I did, cruising round in the supra is my new favourite pastime. Although other cars are awesome too love my eagle speedster and a police liveried dodge charger complete with pushbar. Not sure as to the longevity of the game tbh, its lots of fun but aimed more at instant gratification not really a slow burner. However online 8 player cruises with the full map are cool, as is the scenery and just going for a drive....and accelerating past gatsos (my record is pushing 270mph mmmm tuned veyron + interstate).
Car selection is a bit limited compared to 4 but runs rings round NFS, in general imagine forza but much less sterile and serious plus a dash of fast and the furious and your there...my supra may now have the livery from the 1st movie on it.
