Roller Coaster Tycoon 4?

Roller Coaster Tycoon 4?

Yeah me neither! was bloody addictive no matter how old you are!

I think they got sued for something after rct 3, thats maybe why they've gone quiet.

But with the DS version coming, i dont know.

Found it: In November 2005, Sawyer sued Atari, claiming that they had failed to pay him certain royalties.[3] Sawyer and Atari settled out of court for an undisclosed amount in February 2008.

There are no official announced plans for an RCT4. Whether Atari have plans though is another matter. I'm sure it has been discussed.

There was a post on the official Atari forums by Atari themselves a while back asking what fans would like to see in RCT4. This sparked wild rumours of a new game but nothing more has ever been said or suggested by Atari.

Its a shame as its a fantastic game series. RCT3 was a let down for me and I've never got into it. Probably because I don't think Atari pulled off the whole 3D thing very well. Chris Sawyer, the creator of the RCT series had nothing to do with RCT3. He sold the rights to the series to Atari who greated the 3rd game on their own. Much prefer the isometric graphics of 1 and 2. I Still play both occasionally and have done since first released in March 1999 :).

http://www.nedesigns.com is probably the premier fan site still running for the games.

I would love to see a 4th game but can't see it happening any time soon.

Yup. Anything released after the RCT series has been gimmicky rubbish.

I guess the difference being that RCT was created by a game designer who was also a fan of engineering and a roller coaster enthusiast to boot. The game was designed and coded off his own back with a very very small team of addtional outside help including consultation from John Wardley who is a very well respected roller coaster/ride designer. It was the game he wanted to make, not what a board of shareholders thought would put loads of money into their pockets.

The RCT series has a lot of realism in it. There is so much detail in the game. All other "theme park simulation" games seem to have a babyish image and try to be homourous to try and cover up what is actually a pretty poor game. I hink RCT3 fell into this trap. The 3d graphics were far more cartoony and the whole atmosphere of the game changed from having function over style to looking like a 5 year old designed it.

It's still possible we will see another RCT but it's highly unlikely Chris Sawyer will have anything to do with it. He's a multi millionaire off the back of 4 outstanding games (Transport Tycoon, Locomotion, RCT1 and RCT2)... Why would he bother?

theme park was always my fav in this genre but RC1+2 were quality

RC3 was spoiled by the 3d gfx which was a shame
