in my opinion the Slim is quite ugly compared to my original 60Gb, they first made it duller when they removed the chrome effect bits, now they are removing the nice glossy finish too?

It's the same supercheap plastic as the ps2 slim and light but the button panel is chromed again, also the touch sensitive buttons have gone. Basically looks like they've redesigned it for ease of construction and the cheapest possible material costs.

still can't get over how they've been taking away features from the original, rather than adding features. yes it may have a lower price but with less features is it really worth it. backwards compatibility IS important so why they dropped it, and not brought it back, in any form is a disgrace.

about the only way it's better than an Xbox is that it doesn't have Halo games, and the controllers are better..... other than that the xbox is just as good.

I agree on the features adding and should not remove. I guess they are looking for cheapest possible unit prices for the profit.
However I can't really agree on the latter part. I think Blu-ray, larger HDDs and free online are just a few benefits to begin with

I'm trying not to go fanboy here but first of all there is parity on HD sizes unless you mod 120gb either way...and second with the free online you get what you pay for...on an xbox you can have real voice conversations on with 7 different people in 7 different games and on ps3 you send text messages to each other...as long as the game allows you to without returning to dash. That and 360 does not suffer from enforced installation of games...even demos you have on your HD FFS what is the deal with that?

I'll give you blue ray tho (y)

Bit pointless now but here you go (y) Recommend you look at the bottom one that for some reason doesn't have a thumbnail it gives a good idea of how much deeper it is.

Thanks for those comparison pictures, they're interesting to see!
The main reason I bought one is because I've given up with the Xbox breaking down every five minutes and for the Blu capabilities.
I've never owned any other playstation consoles, so backwards compatibility is not an issue for me.
I use Xbox live quite a bit so will have to see how the playstation variant compares.

My order should arrive on the 1st... :D I just need some games now.
