I don't understand. How the ps3 is allowing it to display it in 720 and 1080i but not 1080p. It can't be the Ps3 if it's letting you do them.

the ps3 also lets me select 1080p
then pressing right on the menu (the part in manual where it goes onto audio selection)
it goes black
the tv displays 1080p just fine using the 360

It's hard to know where you are going wrong without seeing. Could you possibly do a vid and upload to youtube? or photobucket or whatever? of it doing the error

you may find this hard to believe but im not quite sponsered by Sanatogen just yet
its a cable wih a plug each end
its a simple menu system with options
it lets me select options and change the display
then the PS3 throws a wobbly
dig out your own PS3 and go into display settings and select custom settings under HDMI and you will see the options

I find it hard to believe that the Ps3 is broken.
I would consider how you are selecting the menu, you have to press right when you select 1080p irrc

PS3 still not giving me 1080p
the TV is working fine
HD dvd/blue ray looks good
SD is better than i expected TBH as i was concerned it would look crap
anyone looking for a cheap stand then i got this

well after much swapping of HDMI cables and resetting of jap crap
i have finally got it outputting 1080p!!
oh should add that stand i linked to is a very good match for the ps3 with a black silver finish
thankfully also a good match for the uber console too

right done a bit of thinking on this
TV has simplelink on the HDMI ports bar one of them
hooking it up to this port brought some 1080p display
however the display cuts out on 1080p and is useless
now the 360 runs HDMI 1.2,the PS3 runs 1.3 with some features missing
360 runs fine on any port regardless
so im thinking it may be a cable issue and i need a better cable?

Yes its a cable issue I had this problem while using a PS3 on my TV. Solved by buying a premium high quality "maximum" bandwidth HDMI cable. Not cheap but works on the PS3 at 1080p resolution.

Aye the Realm of "Full HD" Cinema and entertainment is nothing but an expensive mine field. Needless to say I was one who bought a HD DVD Player
