yeah you can get a chip put in it and it pays something extra... not quite sure what though.

Most markets do them, im not sure if you can fit it yourself

You can't watch true dvd's on a boggo PS1, as it was never fitted with a DVD laser. Same as you can't watch dvd's on a pc unless you have a dvd drive. I could be wrong of course, Just as I understand it standard cd laser will not read a dvd.

As far as I understand it, you can't watch DVDs on PS1 because of the laser (as pinnin said). CD lasers are Infrared and DVD lasers are Ultra-violet, which are at oposite ends of the spectrum, UV has a smaller wave length than IR, thus you can fit more tracks on a DVD surface. You'd have to change the laser in order to make this conversion.

However am a bit confused cos you say PS1 Chip, but in brackets not playstation.

think he's referring to the later smaller PS1 .different chipping solutions for the modified chipset me thinks

Dont buy a Playstation of any flavour, i have a PS2 and its chipped. Biggest waste of cash ever. Only uses are dust collector and Gran Turismo machine (in that order).
Get an X-box and chip that, then wack a 120gb-300gb in and you got yourself one fantastic piece of kit. Games machine/DVD player/DIVX player/MP3 player. Cos of the HDD (a standard PC IDE one) you can save lots of stuff on it making it uber transportable. They are far easier to chip than a PS2, about 6 wires compared to around 25ish. Plus loading new software is easy cos of the inbuilt network card. Amazing piece of kit.
