Our PS3 has died and we need to take the hard drive out and put it back in again. Unfortunately despite using the proper size screwdriver my hubbie has managed to mash the screwhead and now can't get the screw out to release the hard drive. We've looked at screw extractors but none of them seem to be small enough to do the job.

Anyone had this problem and if so how did they get round it?

Having looked at it, I'd say the only way is to drill into it and try and get some needle pliers on it....

Scary I know, but unless you can get a slot in it I'd say it was the only way to get it out....

Unless you can get a decent grip on it with just pliers?

probably as above ur going to have to drill it out, i found mine very soft metal and even careful has damaged it a little

Thanks - i told him about the pliers and he's managed to ease it out. The hard drive re-installation worked so he is no longer crying in the corner!
