the dvd drive is playing up on my 360 and im getting alot of disc unreadable errors lately :( ive tried a lens cleaner etc but with no joy....

my 360 is coming up two years so standard warranty has expired, although i do have the three years for RROD...

my question is how do i make it RROD? im hoping if i can do this ill get a new unit back with a working dvd then, long shot i know, but nothing to lose!!

cheers(y)

haha sneeky

I was planning on doing that when mine went wrong, but it would have looked dodgy me phoning up one day saying the disk drive is broken, and then saying I have the ring of death a day later.

If you wrap it up in towals and turn it on, and leave it for a while, you should get the 3 red lights.

i would suggest a more violent method although i doubt that would get a new one for you hmm... the main things that seem to break itare of course going from hot to cold and vice versa quickly

not tried yet as been a bit pushed for time lately! i dont think towel method will work from what ive read and knowing my look it wont do 3 red rings!

anyone know the cost of official MS swap out of dvd drive??

When I phoned up it was £60.

The towel method does work, when I was phoning around to see if anyone could do it cheaper, they told me to do that and get it fixed for free.

Sorry to ressurect an old thread but my DVD drive has been doing the white screen error thing for 6 months, usually it took about 20 attempts turning the thing on and off to get a game to work, occasionally i would give the console a firm slap on the area where the dvd drive is and it would work fine for a while, until 2 nights ago when i gave it a smack and it gave me the RROD (3 red lights), so in a summary if you want it to get the RROD give it firm slaps till it kills it, then call microsoft and get a replacement.
