Pgr 4

HAHA thrown it at the deep end there then, must have been fun :D :slayer:
I don't like using manual gears unless I'm using the wheel, I haven't tried it with this game yet but I didn't like the wheel with the last gotham, it's not got the same throwability (around the corners and cones) as the controllers. The only game I have found the wheel to be good in and much better than the pad is Forza 2.

Loving it big time so far, that usual PGR one more go syndrome is kicking in though :bang: The bikes are great fun particularly on the style challenges going for platinum, very hard but great gaming once again :worship:

For me it's a case of not wanting the competitive pressure of online gaming any longer, I was playing online games from the moment it was possible and have come across a lot of characters good and bad over the years, I was ranked #1 in the world at MOHAA for some time, I met my wife playing that game and since then I just haven't really got back into it in the same way. I played a bit of PG3 online and Rainbow 6 but I prefer mouse and keyboard controls as I think the reactions are tested more especially with the Quake style games :slayer: I playtest over the net on stuff I am working on too so that again puts me off, I'd just rather use the consoles to relax these days. You never know, I may get back into it one day.

As for PGR4 I am working through the single player arcade section at the moment before moving onto the career mode, is the career mode much different to previous PGR's?

I use inside or bonnet views on the car and like you the exterior view on the bikes, the closer one. I tried the head cam but it was just too awkward, way too much movement with the screen and hard to tell when to corner, the exterior view makes it so easy to hit the racing lines that it just don't make sense to use any other to be honest.

I had to switch to career mode today because I was going through the arcade mode on the gold and platinum and found that the bikes at one section just could not keep up so I need the elusive ones to compete, I think they call it invitational which are apparently unlocked in the career mode. I do like the new setup with the multiple races for points and kudos and the qualifying races for certain events (y)

Got it yesterday and i'm playing it with the wheel, its not as all over the place as PGR3 was with the wheel. Finding the graphical detail amazing, Just done an invitational on career where you had to drive round the Nordschleifer in a maserati 250f in the snow in a certain time its fairly easy as long as you dont go nuts but in places its genuinely beautiful with low, weak, slanting sun picking through leafless trees and causing at times when your driving into it that annoying snow white-out when sun and snow combine into an accident waiting to happen. Also its fun, which while graphics are important is more important. Quebec reminds me of Edinburgh on PGR2 (i miss both Edinburgh and Sydney off 2 they were my favourites) in the track make up, it has tight sections leading to wider straights and changes of elevation but still not the same.

Cool! only problem with those pics is they remind me of the bus lane infested no left turn, no right turn, no U turn that is the reality of Edinburgh city centre!
