I've got a launch day 360 served me well until tonight....I plugged in my 360 wireless wheel (no thats not a typo) Finally downloaded the Forza 2 demo and set myself up in a nice race with a BMW M3 and no driver aids cos they be for wet boys. The back of my M3 appears on the screen then it stops...i think oh its crashed..switch it off try and turn it back on again and 3 red lights of doom....WHY NOW DAMN IT????????????????????? Im looking forward to forza more than halo! so its gonna be 80 quid to fix it...BALLS!!!! i didnt even get to play on forza!!!!! GRRRRR

I know not much about the 360 but find it ironic that MS have put lights on it to read out faults, doesn't inspire much confidence huh?

Better than no lights at all so we don't have a clue "when" it does go wrong.

Which lets face it, will happen sooner or later.

tried removing the hard drive?

Strange though as the old xbox was proper reliable (more so than the ps2)

My uncles Xbox 1 broke last week, he recieved it on the launch day. It worked fine for 5 years then for no reason it just stopped working, no reason.....just died !

define just died,always fixable

Its a year and 5 months old...so warranty is gone also i've tried everything to get it to work...i work for game so know most tricks to get the damn things to work...(we get them returned every day faulty!)

Call MS and see what they say. Some people have been lucky to get free repairs despite being out of warranty.

Well I know I'll be sueing if my 3rd 360 goes belly up when it's out of warranty if they fail to do the right thing.

If your 3rd one goes belly up, the right thing would probably be to send you a PS3.

Of course you would never think of taking it into work.. and swapping it with a new one.. then sending the 'new one' back for repair

Get in contact with trading standards. (sounds extreme but that is what they are there for, its not like calling the police on them)

Everything sold in this country must work for a 'reasonable length of time' regardless of warrenties or anything.

There is no was M$ could argue that a year and a half is reasonable for something you spent 400 quid on brand new.

Also this is why most extended warrenties are a rip off as the standard warrenty is too short to begin with.

Ive fixed my lil bros mates 3 red lights dooms thing 4 times and this was without even dismantling the xbox360.

All I did was disconnect everything apart from the power supply then hit it (good solid blow) and turn it back on and it worked.

Try it and no I'm not taking the ****, its already broken anyway so what is the worst that could happen.... you break it again?

that one is probably suffering from the gfx chips coming away from the mobo.various fixes online

Well thats mine playing up.
Everything appears to be fine except Forza 2 won't load now. everything else loads no problem but it doesn't even seem to recognis the forza disc.
Have checked for scratches and defects but the disc itself is minted like all my discs!

A few of my friends have also had trouble with Forza 2. I just put the Xbox horizontal and it's worked fine since.
