As some of you know, I a bit of a car wash freak albeit the car hasn't seen a good wash lately due to various other commitments.

After taking Gill an the girls to see Tangled at the cinema I got a few spare hours to clean the cinq. Just managed the exterior today, although missed the tyres. So here's what happened.

Gill bought me some nice new products for Valentines, so as the new dodo juice range is aimed at beginners, I thought why not go back to basics.

First of the new products, dodo juice basics of bling shampoo and wash pad. Followed by an I4D uber blue drying towel.

I mixed the shampoo 150:1 as I would with my normal shampoo. Using the two bucket method, I gave the car a quick rinse, then washed two panels before rinsing the pad and getting clean wash water for the next pair. TBH I wasn't as taken to this shampoo as the other three I have, will do as a back-up or for friends cars LOL

Next up was the wheels, for this I used another product that Gill bought me, Meguair's Wheel Brightener. Read great reviews about this stuff and have to say, it certainly didn't disappoint. The bottle has a measure on it to easily allow it to be diluted to 4:1.

The wheel brightener was applied to each wheel, given a minute to dwell then agitated with a Serious Performance detailing brush,

Following the wash and dry, the car looked like this,

As the paint work was pretty smooth, I went straight to the cleanser stage with some Serious Performance Paint Cleanser applies via microfibre pad and removed with several microfibre towels.

Following the paint cleanser, I decided for some reason to apply a coat of Serious Performance Show Detailer before applying a wax coat. This product brings a serious bling factor to the metallic. The nice thing about this is it's spray on and rub in with a fluffy microfibre.

Today's choice of wax was dodo juice light fantastic applied via foam pad,

Light Fantastic is a soft wax produced for light coloured cars, I expected the wax to be soft to touch, which it wasn't so not sure whether I've been storing it correctly and maybe it's hardened up. Any-ways, two layers of light fantastic were applied buffed of with several microfibres leaving the following,

Window's, mirrors and lights were cleaned using dodo juice's new Clearly Menthol glass cleaner. Great smear free clean, but not too impressed by the trigger nozzle, too small imo.

So there we have it, a nice wee clean of the cinq without using too many fancy products. Whilst I didn't miss the use of the power washer and snow foam, I do think it makes a good bit of difference.

Shinin'! No idea what PCD Cinq's wheels are but your's would suit something like Minilites so well :) 13 x 6/7's ;) Do it! Might need a bit of arch rolling.. Or if you can put 12's on these go for that.. the smaller (and wider) the better applies to all scenarios in life..

Matt has the compomotive ML wheels on the yellow turbo, closest thing to the minilites that would fit a cinq. Needs to be a bit lower to pull off the look imo, just have to chop some springs lol

That's one shiny car Rich. How long did it take you to do?

Just 3hours, would liked to have spent longer, but run out of time

That'd put many new cars bodywork to shame

Nice work :D

No front images as it's a bit :banghead: Sadly there are a good few bits of rust appearing.

Looks really good after all that effort :)

Tend to leave washing like that till the Summer for obvious reasons. Put mine through the car wash every now and again and tends to do the trick for the darker/wetter/snowier months :D

Shall definitely be getting more involved in the cleaning of the Stilo when the warmer weather eventually makes an appearance though. I love spending a few hours cleaning the inside and out of a car - not that I'm neurotic or anything

Gotta admit I'm slightly flabbergasted anyone can spend 3 hours cleaning a car. Especially a tiny cinq. But it looks worth it

I've done worse, the interior never got a look in. :cray: there's still grass in there from St Andrews last year :/

I imagine the X will take silly amount of time to do, need the step ladder for the majority of it :haha:

Was thinking about the basics of bling shampoo today, maybe i shouldn't write it off so quickly. Having had another read, as it's a gel rather than a liquid, it's good for 1:400 dilution so I'll give it another go at this dilution.

It's been raining last night and when I went out this morning their was a nice bit of water beading on the car. Not had such tight beads for most of the winter due to not washing the car. I'm going to bring the wax pot into the house and see if it becomes a little softer with the warmer atmosphere then apply another two layers on Sunday after I've washed Gill's BM.

Unfortunately I used the phone camera again set to 8MP, not the best in the world :(

8MP is better than No pics at all.
Nice beading Rich, Kieran's GP had some beading at the meet.

Aye Kieran's GP did look good with the HD Wax. Be a while before I try it as there are a few others I want to try first.
