Went for a few snaps with the ducks ;) and got questioned off an old man as to why I was taking pictures on my car LOL

Skating pond great place for pics I will need to get some of mine done mate

Need some advice, thinking of selling it , all the problems are amounting into a big bill now and now the gearbox has a horrible whine in first and second, then may aswell put a new clutch in, but also needs whole rebuild of back brakes, back shocks, sump, radiator, timing belt, water pump, heater resistor and wiring Probally. Should I sell as in p/x or fix it up, owned it since August 2013 and loved it and still do, just don't justify spending many hundreds on it. Anyone help?

It's a hard choice and probably dependent on how much of the work you can do yourself. Do you have the time and ability? If yes then perhaps better the devil you know but if no...would the repairs cost more than the car's worth?

If I remember correctly it's the 1.2 in which case it may be a good looking car but is probably quite slow. You could p/x and get something with a bit more oomph if that's of interest to you

Thanks for the advice , I could Probally do a bit of the work myself, and I have mechanic mates that could take some jobs as homers, and your correct it is a 1.2 just looking into got diesels ie mk4 golf gt tdi, fabia vrs and the 1.9 gp, but it's insurance I need to watch for being 18, so ATM keeping this is my best option but only time will tell

Don't always assume insurance will be expensive on higher powered cars. Ok, yes the ones you have listed will cost more as they are very much in favour but there's others out there that may surprise you especially if they're not your usual my-first-car or boy racer choice and if they're cheap to fix. My 17 year old nephew found it cheaper to insure a 1.6 petrol 5-door focus than a 1.3 petrol 3-door fiesta. He acknowledges it's not the coolest car in the world but it's a means to an end and eventually he wants either an RS Turbo or XR2i (ST if he really has to compromise [attachment=1:25tlbn7g]rolleyes.gif[/attachment:25tlbn7g])

Going back to your current dilemma though, cost the repairs and compare with what you'll get in p/x and what it'll cost you extra in insurance if you buy what you've listed above. Then go with your gut as that's what really matters

Again thanks for the advice :) , I love this car too much to get rid, and it looks likely I'm going to chuck a load at it after the new year , and yeah I'm only 400 a year extra next year to insure my mates 09 plate corsa 1.6 turbo and 350 more to insure the 1.7 cdti corsa d, and that's with one year ncb, started to get it sorted , back shocks droplinks and a rad ordered, going to get my mate to do my timing belt, aux belt and water pump, but my dash is like a Christmas tree lol according to ff a number of the lights can be solved with a battery replacement

Evening all, hope everyone had a good Christmas and a pleasant new year when it comes, quick update on the car, 1) it's getting kept for another year due to cheap insurance, new shocks, back brakes, uprated ones at the front and radiator all done now :) now for some bad news gearbox sounds like a kid screaming after there arms fallen off apart from that happy motoring lol,

Plans for 2015:
Timing belt + water pump
Tinted windows
Badgeless grille
Abarth front lights
Cupra splitter
Sporting spoiler and skirts
A different colour for the wheels, mirror caps and dog light caps
Fit my omex rev limiter with new decat manifold
Pop and bang remap possibly (silly but oh well lol)

Car will get final detail Tomorow hopefully, but if not happy new year

So this decided to happen at 430 this morning , for those that haven't followed my thread my gearbox was making bad noises and clutch was slipping , so obviously clutch decided to go, good mate towed me home but , ready for it's box and clutch next week
