Haven't really had a chance to do much to el Panda lately. Got tian tian stuck in the mud on Sunday whilst out playing with some signs :/ oops!!

Anyway, a few upgrades that need investigating but I'm hoping to:

*Fit the 12v ciggy lighter (still can't believe they didn't just fit this from Standard, ffs Fiat!!)
*Boot/Courtesy light

Past that a few subtle mods planned

*roof bars
*finally I might decide on alloys.

Also thinking about looking at an FK grille - speaking to Venters I gather the grilles on the model did change quite considerably so this may require further research.

Intresting day today. Took the panda in to work for some wiring work to be looked at re the 12v cig lighter.

After some investigation it was thought that stealing a positive and earth from the stere (on the fascia side of the split) would be a good way forward. Initially this worked, and worked well. But on trying to cram the wiring and stereo back into the dash it would appear I've nicked some of the wiring. Somewhere. Now the stereo ejects cds but wont fire up and the 12v is drawing no power. Bah.

Tried refitting the old stero which works fine. May look at this all again tomorrow but for now I cant be bothered lol

This is the bit I'm most proud of.

Spare fascia via ebay

Mounts through the fascia and straight into the adaptor itself - securing and closing it off.

Good work all the same (even though something went wrong). Only really a few places whatever broke could have broke, (and by the sounds of it, it's most likely at the connector itself) so it's not too bad, should be a 10 minute and free/mega cheap fix.

I've to do something similar on the cinq because of the previous owners botched attempt at wiring in more sockets, the wiring was a mess so i ripped it all out.

Thanks bud - that's what I'm hoping. Might have another look tomorrow/this evening if I can be bothered!

I haven't put back in the standard stereo yet. Off to Glasgow tomorrow hopefully, then Belfast on Saturday, so there's no real rush.

Quick update - NOTHING works in terms of the aftermarket stereo wiring.

Oddly, there's a flashing red light on the front of the stere (behind the fascia) which flashes away quite happily. But on the loom it doesn't matter if the 12v only is connected, the cd player only is connected, or a mix of the two.

I've swapped the stereo's fuse, no joy. I've checked, double checked and triple checked the connections to the chocloate block but again...no joy.

I'm stumped - not that it takes much lol.

No inline fuses you've missed?

Remember, it's not just a live feed that makes a system work, it needs the earth to complete the loop, if it doesn't have that then you'll get the same as a feed issue.

what did you do for an earth?

it's most likely earth then.

As a test, I'd probably remove both ends of the earthing wire from the block and try to direct connect them away from the block by hand (or twist them loosely together) whilst trying to power the stereo up

always the way of it haha

could be worse, in the cinq, the stereo wiring also feeds the power socket and all the hazard/indicator system, nightmare for fault finding, especially when somebody who can't wire then attempts to wire in more sockets, more speakers a sub and an amp then rips half of it out again leaving some live wires sparking on the seats, the floor, and others loosely twisted together for no apparent reason.

They also did my horn the same way haha.
