Just a few notes about FS HQ in general.

The key for the generator is now stored in the tupperware box that contains tea/sugar/coffee etc. This can be found on the shelving unit beside Yellow. I'd prefer if it was kept there when we're not there as there's quite a few people moving round that end of the site in the week and the generator isn't ours and is worth far more than all the cars put together ;)

Access has to be kept clear for the grit piles and the area where the paving stones and fence posts are stored. Apparently these may be required at any time

Oh yeah, the battery for the generator is charged again and good to go. Can we remember to switch off the ignition rather than just cutting the fuel as that's what flattens it. Dunno if it was us or Donnie but just in case...

I will be on site tomorrow if thats ok? Is it the guard I met on monday that will be there? Also might need a how2 on using the genny lol

Won't know who's on until I get to work tomorrow. If you don't hear from me it's Kevin.

Generator is easy, flick fuel switch and turn key - or is it the other way round lol. To switch off cut the fuel and then switch ignition off. I can pop out if you're really stuck

Unfortunately on Friday night we encountered a problem with the new system of accessing FS HQ and that was an extra gate that gets locked after 6 pm in the evening and at the weekends. This means the gate/clicker system is only viable in the week and as there can't be any full on fix-it meets then we are going back to having to go through the barrier and drive up through campus.

It's a shame as it would have been very handy to come and go easily at weekends. I'm working on coming up with a solution but until then it's back to how it was before which means me hanging round the gatehouse and authorising people getting through the barrier.

FYI..

We now have a functional toilet at the shed... I have some strategically placed buckets around the shed collecting rainwater so we can fill the sistern and flush..

No need to thank me... I have benefited more than others with this lol

Mike almost got a belter of a picture of me the other week heading to the door with a bucket in one hand and a loo roll in the other... kinda wish I staged it for a pic again when he was ready haha

I'm just glad you didn't take the picture you described to us all when you returned [attachment=1:2p0yc39a]speechless-smiley-040.gif[/attachment:2p0yc39a]

The shed isn't the only place with an internal water feature when it rains. This is one of the rooms in our building that sprung several leaks during yesterday's downpour

The scary thing is up until a month or so the room contained the NMR Spectrometer that was maintained under pressure, with a superconducting magnet that needed to be cooled with liquid helium and the room was out of bounds to almost all staff but a select few.

This is why they're building us a new place and kicking us out of here

Yo folks! I bumped into Donnie our groundsman this morning and he asked what we were doing about the shed. he advised that we clear it sooner rather than later so that we/I don't fall foul of our site manager. I'm happy to do this anytime including mid week as it's quieter now at work and I can take holidays freely. Apart from Thursday 25th of September and Monday 29th I'm completely flexible. Can everyone else let me know when you can make it and I'll try and organise a day for it to be done

@Stuart, Donnie says if you're not selling the engine you have in there it can go in the metal skip on campus but only if it is drained of oil

Will come by and see whats what, home on wed so can come by at any time

My work really are good. Not only will they move the engine for us as long as it's drained of all fluids they'll also dispose of the old oil if we leave it in the shed in 5l drums. All the other crap can go into the skips on site and Donnie will show us where they are

Plus if anyone has use of the lights that are in there they are free to a good home :)

I will take the engine away, got a buyer for it.. lol.. talk about leaving till the last minute haha

Will take an engine hoist with me on tuesday

All good :D

Managed to catch security on my way out last night and left a message for the workshop that you'd sold the engine. they're being so helpful at the moment (or is that bored) that I wouldn't put it past them to drain and ditch the engine themselves
