Im picking up Harper, so i'm sure she'll keep me right. ...Also got the gazebo, just incase :)

All going well I see cool cool :)

But don't think i could ever drive it looking at the cab as my seat is always fully back and reclined in mine for my small stature lol!!!!

6.5 1/2 and 21 stone and yes i drive a seic and love my wee go cart :)

Is it getting a 1.4 16valve in the front eventually?

are 8v 's not heavy on oil? I had a 1.6 8v Astra and it drank more oil than petrol. Had it checked, and they found nowt wrong, so i associated it with the 8v...!?

If your 8V is heavy on oil its is goosed and needs rebuilt probably piston rings or a multitude of other things possibly also check for leaks.

Fiat fire 8V or 16Valve should use no oil or very little just like any other engine if working correctly.?

Not really true, some engines use more oil than others. Vauxhall engines do use a little more oil than Fiat engines naturally, the Fiat FIRE ones use very little.

A litre of oil every 1500 miles is deemed acceptable useage by some manufactures. A healthy non leaking FIRE uses nowhere near that though :)

Part 2 will be starting any minute once the boys have finished their tea. Tonight we are joined by Mike as well.

Oh and we now have a stereo in the car w00t! Especially as if all goes well I'm the one driving it tonight over the hill to Bucksburn

Only problem is the stereo won't stay in and I've just heard mutterings of using blu-tac to hold it on. I can see this is going to be an interesting night :D

Nope the cage is there. Andrew knows what the problem is but it's not top priority for now

Actually pizza is top priority ;)

Rear O/S wheel is off

As expected the spring was snapped in half

But in good news the last of the Monte Carlo stickers are off

And in even better news Martyn is off to Markies for pizza :D

20:25 Houston we have problems

Having to hacksaw off the bottom bolt of the shock and it's being a stubborn little git

21:25 Update at last. Martyn sent this pic through as wrong tools for the job

I have to admit there was a loud cheer from us at this point

Shock_horror.jpg

So finally the shock is off and Andrew is using the angle grinder to cut through what is left of the bolt. More pictures soon hopefully but it's getting affa dark...

21:35 Stubborn bolt is still being stubborn but don't worry we still have a few things to try

Andrew getting ready to attack it

The hacksaw is back out for the last little bit

So yeh...a feeling of disapointment and frustration from all of us tonight.

The car remains as per that last pic. The bottom bolt is more or less hacked and just about out, but we ran out of daylight and the will to give a ****. Frankly, two evenings on the bounce and we're all needing a bit of a break.

Need to get some new nuts and bolts for the bottom of each shock, just now we're making do but we'll replace them both as new.

Plan of attack is as follows. Andrew reckons he can remove whats left of the bolt tomorrow, meaning Friday we can fit up the new shock and replacement spring, fit the replacement exhaust and hopefully get the Sei over into its temporary home.

Oh...the good news from tonight is that the CD player works fine :D

tbh (and this wouldn't have helped tonight, you'd still be in the exact same situation and the car would be immobile), but i wouldn't have wasted time on that bolt (i have very little patience :laugh :) , i'd have just dropped the rear arm off the car and if i couldn't have got it off then, i'd have been down to the scrappies asap looking for a replacement rear arm. The bottom bolt will be a **** to get through, it's high tensile because it's load bearing.

We actually had this discussion the other day. On balance we decided to keep the rear set up and replace the broken bits. Mostly this was down to time and the fact we need the car off of Andrews drive.

Longer term the whole rear setup will be replaced but yeh...lesson learned and all that!

Let me know what parts you may need from a scrappys, I've got 2 decent scrappys near me.
Shewlaton Car Spares - well known by the foreman & Ayrshire Car Breakers - sometimes have Centos in the yard.

Thanks Andi - we've had plenty of offers of spares/the opportunity to source spares so we'll keep that in mind :)

We also have first option on a nice donor car which *should* provide all the parts we need.

So - Friday we rebuild (hopefully) and get the car into storage. I'm also hoping to start making up a list of all work required to get her up to standard. First things first, the dreaded MOT :(
