As some of you know, I managed to sell my old Punto mk2 sporting - and then buy a newer mk2b.
This is a bit of a progress thread on what's going on with it / mods I'm doing / problems / news etc.

So I managed to find the car on gumtree, posted at 300 pounds over my budget; but had 60000 miles and new sump/gearbox. I'm gave them a call asking the usual questions of mot/tax/services etc and was told there is just a small dent on a wheel arch, and 2 scratches. Went to view the car the day after and they met me outside the trainstation. I came out to notice this mean machine sitting there - right headturner for me. I immediately loved it, and it looked great from the distance. As I got close I noticed the dent, being abit larger than described - but if I could get the price down I knew it wouldn't be an issue as my old car had various dents around it. The scratches were on both doors - instantly knew it had been keyed twice! So after a quick spin, loving the growl from the exhaust I started getting to work looking at common faults such as bad seals / stiff doors ( and when opens a "crack" sound appears but i wasn't fazed by this as my last car ALSO had this problem. ) / rust in the boot / shaking in while ticking over. These common faults weren't an issue - the seals were in VERY good condition which I was surprised at especially. The car ticked over nicely and no smoke/rattling came from it. I got to work looking inside, and the bonnet release catch was broken but remembering seeing a guide on how to fix this on FF. So after pointing out all of these flaws - giving the usual overestimate repairs - I haggled them down to 100 quid under my budget. CHUFFED.

Got the car home and awaiting insurance - but here are some photos. ( needs a clean so none of you detailing freaks go mad at me ;) )

IMAG0189.jpg[/attachment:2cdihpbh] Car came with a cobra alarm system fitted in it, so thieves beware.

IMAG0190.jpg[/attachment:2cdihpbh]17s, need abit of a touch up but they're not too bad - ride comfort isn't an issue either it's as smooth as my old car.

Any comments/suggestions/hate is appreciated ;)

Looks good mate. Love the colour :) . Just need a 50mm drop ;) . Any plans for it?

Looks decent mate, glad you're chuffed with it :)

Funnily enough, saw a mk2b 16v on Auto Trader today for a lot less than I thought it'd go for. Dent on the boot lid corner but pretty clean and a few sweet mods on there. Only issue though...it's Broom Yellow

I was thinking some 35 springs, dunno how the 17s would act with 50s. I hear once you go low you never go back so I might become a coil over fiend... I need to tidy little bits up, fix that damn bonnet cable. The air box is a tiny thing so I might go with a focus induction or another pipercross as I loved my old one. Went out and bought it a I'll present today will get pics up soon.

Muppet; I love the colour of mine, pics don't do it justice... Gonna clean it tomorrow and I've got some strange little details planned to make it unique, but will get more info up later as I'm on an iPad and it's annoying to type on. Might even hit centre console it as I loved the difference it had in brads, I don't use the stupid cup holders.

Here's the first buy for it today - Sony Xplod headunit, I've heard them in a few cars and I like the quality; Glowing blue to compliment colour scheme. Was thinking about blue calipers too instead of red?

Ordered a badgeless grill - should be here in a day or two.

I was thinking about getting angel eyes for the front; due to me have always wanting HIDS - but the mk2b's shiny headlights can't have them due to the light pattern going everywhere - making me a police magnet. But I've heard you can take apart the original headlights and spray the interior of them black like this photo here.

Idk what it is, but the back lights look dark enough for me... I know the mk2b rear lights are naturally darker, but if I ever get the film I'll give it a shot ;)

I'll continue to get on the hunt for a splitter - as well as little mods for the interior.

cough... look for HID R bulbts... ie, H4R hid's they will keep your beam pattern. mrcento ran them in his mondeo and i have something similar in the stilo :). works well. 3 months and not a single pull or flash from anyone...

would still remove them for MOT but its not hard to do if were honest...

so. strip them. paint them black and HID R them and your laughing... in other news you have projection fog lamps..... hint hint H3 HiD's :p

yup, the hid r bulbs are tremendous :) can reccomend them 100% :)

Oooo I forgot about hids in the fogs ;) I've been looking to get wind deflectors too! You think the black spoiler will look better than my current cc'd one? If I get the funds soon I will be buying BOTH if they're still around. Good eye Mr Clock ;)

In other news I've managed to get the bonnet open - friend showed me a good trick he used when it happened to his - But the catch isn't working due to it being so rusty and you need to move pieces around for it to then shut. And for those checking how they look.

Quick car wash today - didn't bother using wax as it's due to rain tonight.

Had some chrome rims for the lights - I'm not too sure on if I'd like them on or not. Most people I've asked for comments on them have liked them on - whats the opinion?! I'm keeping them off for now.
