Bit of a progress thread on my first ever project.
Looking to upgrade and clean up the old gal, giving her a nice smooth look.
Bought the car and it included it's fair share of bumps, scratches and horrible stickers on the rear.

Problems so far include:
INSANE leak - left the car with a soaking wet interior (got to love the Scottish weather)
Condensation in the passenger side headlight(due to leak)
Headlight bulb blew, replaced, blew = fuse box replacement = 50% brighter Xenon lights added.
Had to re-wire stock 100w subwoofer

Current 'mods':
New Pipercross Airfilter (temporary)
Xenon bulbs
De-fiatbadged rear
Removed those god awful stickers
Seat covers(seats were in a bad nick)
Sprayed parcel shelf Matt Black

TO DO (all maybes, open to suggestions)
Smoke rear lights
Angel eye black headlights
CC'd mirrors
CC'd waterjets
Remove scuffs, bumps (possible body respray for the right money)
ALLOYS(priority)
Install Stereo(Kenwood KDC-W6537U)
---
Smooth bonnet badge
Stilo splitter
Possible abarth kit?
Aero wipers
Vinyl Roof

Please list any suggestions and questions. Happy to hear all criticism, good or bad. :)
I'm new to this all, so bare with me :p

SOLD AS OF 29/05/12 - PERCY THE PUNTO.

Looks pretty decent, plans seem sound too. Approve of the colour of course ;)

Same wheel trims I had on my Punto - as wheel trims go I guess they're better than the ones originally fitted to the lower spec Puntos, kind of :D Basic set of the 5/multi-spoke OEM ones would probably be fine though there's a few other options for the lovely 4x98 fitment. With some of the plans, you could end up with a double of Brad's car... http://www.fiatscotland.com/fiat/upload/showthread.php/12543-My-Fi-Car-named-Eleanor

Didn't fancy the standard suspension on mine, it always felt...well...for lack of a better word...broken  Dunno how it handles with the 16v but would've been one of the main things I'd have done if I'd modded the Punto. Engine's same one I've got in the Stilo - sounds great with induction and nice exhaust, the former you really hear if you get it nearer the red line :) Probably a nicer turn of speed in the Punto with the 200 odd kg less weight to lug around though :p

Lovin' the Stilo mate, was going to go for the stilo in black, but I ended up with the cheaper option :p And yeah, I've followed brad's progress on fiat-forum, lovely looking motor - didn't know he was in Scotland! I like the euro style, but i'm not for going over the top like cambered wheels, insanely spaced wheels and smooth EVERYTHING. Also, are the mk2b headlights a straight fit? because the mk2b has extra parts on the boot itself does it not? Thanks for the suggestions lads ;)

Cheers, yeah it's been a decent enough motor these past 6 years though as soon as finances allow I'll be getting something a little...faster :D A chap on FF went the whole nine yards on his Stilo as well with the smoothing and such, looked good but as I'm useless at bodywork and don't have the money there's no chance of RGZ getting that kind of treatment any time soon.

Rear lights from the 2b are the same technically as yours, just a nice, simple way of getting them de-tango'd. The extra bits on the boot are just reflectors and I've got no idea why Fiat decided to add them unless there was some obscure regulation in a country that required them as they just look awkward and a bit of an afterthought in my opinion.

Been trying to find a nice set of sporting alloys for a while now, seen a few good sets at the right price, 100-200 quid - yet always unable to post, even if I add postage costs... so if anyone has a set for sale, within that price tag give me a shout! But then furthermore, the colour. Black, silver, white, chrome? I've gone for a black/silver exterior colour scheme, with blue/black interior - so was thinking black. Any suggestions lads?!

Been considering that a while myself and James (Jatkinson)'s considering what to put on his blue Cinquecento as we speak. I suggested something relatively off the wall like red/orange as I've seen that on a few cars and it looked good...think Megane R26R for example. Had popped a pic in his thread of a Stilo on Fiat Forum that had that as well.

Also toyed with getting a set of Inovit alloys in a dark bronze colour as I've seen them on a silver Stilo in the past and they looked good - both options could well work well with the Punto too. I wouldn't go any larger than 16", though it can take larger, the ride/acceleration could well be compromised.

Yeah, was expecting to put on some 15's, 16's. Person who owned the car previously had 19's on, and bent the wheel arch(turd), but returned to stock when selling. I've been looking around and I know the punto fits 4x98's, or 100's with 'wobbly bolts', but would these fit?

I don't see why not... although they are 5 stud it says they fit mk1s? and face lift mk2/mk2b, but I assumed they're all the same size?

I'd be more than happy adding a set of sporting alloys as they do look great on the punto where they belong, but obviously I'd choose the team dynamics :p

Had been considering those Team Dynamics ones myself a while back though perhaps without the red rim. Often they'll use a stock pic, so if they say they're 4x98 that should be correct. Sounds like the right offset too (would be fine for the Stilo anyway and I think that's usually fine for the Punto too given I've seen a few mk2's with Stilo alloys) so should also be cool. I'd also be tempted by the simpler 5-spoke Pro Race 3 ones...

...17" I know and not cheap because of that but due to the lightness may not be as bad as running Fiat OEM 17"ers and they'd fill the arches nicely if not give the greatest ride with the profile of tyre you'd need to run :p Lowered right on the 15" version though and I guess it could well work :)

Those Sporting/HGT ones are the safe bet I reckon. Won't be as light as the 1.2s or 3s but you'll save a fair amount of cash I'd imagine. Alloy choice is always a difficult thing, hence why I've been agonising over it for a number of years now rather than taking the plunge

I'm gonna keep up the hunt for a decent set within the area. If anyone sees a set for sale within 200 quid keep me posted!

jebus, that must have been awful to drive

i had a mk2 hgt with 17's on and that was horrible, would defintely not go above 16s on a mk2

He had alot of mods, angel eyes, lexus lights, abarth kit - yet took it all off before sale.. woulda paid more with it all still added :p I did ask him about the wheels and he said "it drove like a dream"... lol.

And yeah Brad, I'm sure it is. Out of curiosity, how much is reasonable to get my bonnet smoothed? I'm horrid with body work so would have it done by a shop.

Idk how he done it, it was all removed before I bought the car. The arches are heafty bent

I smoothed my bonnet myself. Im serving my apprentiship with panel beating and painting. Its pritty difficult i would send it to a bodyshop to get done. Once im qualifed im starting a mobile service. ;)

Prices are different per garage. Will be over £100 atleast. But the bodyshop needs to know what they are doing when smoothing bonnets etc. Most garages wont touch it as its not insurance work.

Hmm. Expected as such. I've heard people saying all kinds of prices, from 75 - 200 quid. Gimmi a shout when you're on mobile! :p
