Yeah I've been running with lights on, and trying to keep them on when stationary and such. Recently filled up the oil, as it seems to guzzle it after it cutting out mid drive(on a 50 yay), oil light came on, checked dipstick and it was low - yet when I filled it up, later that night it cut out again (engine management light of doom came on) and the car wouldn't turn over for a good 5 minutes trying. any ideas people? I'll give it a good run today to see how it goes. :/

cool. leaving the lights on will dry them but you need to run them without the covers on the rear when its dry outside so it can evaperate the water out. once there fullllly dry just wack the flap on. you cant dry them in the house as as soon as they get outside the atmosphere diference and heat will condense the water inside again

do you have any odd colour/excessive amounts of exhaust smoke? if so, is it blue by any chance?

No colour to exhaust smoke that I can see( none at stand still but I cant really see any when driving). The light eventually went off in time - hormonal car! I'm gonna keep an eye on it, not push it too hard to see how it goes. Service soon so we'll see if it helps.

Here are some pics of the lights at the moment; passenger side is now clear and the drivers side has started!... Gonna go with the silica gel pouch method I think.

Had an early start today cleaning everything out, hoovering, washing mats, waxing the dash etc; so the hard day of work was started in the best scottish way possible :

roll n sausage and some cans ;)

Lights...Take rubber boot, and lamp out of the light unit. Get hairdryer and blow into the light unit until it's completly dry, re-insert lamp and boot. If it still condensates there is water ingress into the light unit...re-seal.

Oil consumption...check for leaks especially the oil sump.

good luck.

Good idea Brad. And yeah gengis I'm gonna give em a blast with the hairdryer just to be safe but they're looking like they're drying up themselves.
And for the engine management light, it remains off; and my quote being 190 quid for a service(plus 40 for performance spark plugs) it'll have to remain off for a while longer o_O

On the alloys front there hasn't been much luck. A full set of mk2 alloys are hard to find, but I shall continue to hunt gumtree and ebay, and take a trip up the scrappies soon. If anyone sees any cheap alloys that would fit give me a shout!

Might just get my mate to do it for cheap, because I want someone who actually will find out what's wrong with it to do it haha I only just found out he works at a fiat dealership... he's kept that rather quiet...

[attachment=1:1yrvifu7]128362192.jpg[/attachment:1yrvifu7]The Gumtree Gods have blessed me, a set of alloys, MINT condition have come up, 4 studs aswell yet the pcd ect isnt included. They have 4 brand new tyres, and honestly are a bargain. I've texted the girl asking for the info so i'll need to wait and see what she says. Anyone have experience with 17s on a punto? I know many suggest to stick to 16s at max, but these are lovely. multi spoke as I was after, and quite a decent sized dish (didnt want borbet A style haha)

Here's a pic.

Here's a pic.

i have experience of 17's on a mk2. i would personally never drive one on 17's again. awful.

the wheels are really nice though :)

Is it the ride comfort?... I hear they can scrape when people are in the back, and it's already bad as it is. I've been contemplating wither to get them or not. Would new shocks or springs help?

ride comfort is terrible, handling is utterly atrocious and even my hgt didnt have the torque to really pull the things low down, so the car was extremely easy to stall in first and reverse

but its the same engine in the stilo that runs 17's easy with options of 18's....

true, was maybe just the fact everything felt so horrible to drive on a mk2 with the 17's on that gave the impression it was trying to stall tbh  they just don't work on a punto, the car physically doesnt drive properly with them on.

and 17's on a mk2 look too big in the flesh aswell tbh, theres good reason folk say 16's tops for a punto non grande

I think they look pretty decent on 17" Blades or Claws...

...no practical experience with them on a mk2 though so wouldn't know how they affect the ride/handling/acceleration. I think you've just got to weigh up the looks over practicality balance. I guess if they don't work out, you can always sell them on...

they do look good in pics, but in person, seriously, most angles they look an inch too big, the blades look awesome in that pic though, the claws just look a fraction too big IMO (even though they are the same size  ) in person i guarantee they both look like wagon wheels on the car unless you get them at the right angle
