On the road, no. But as per a comment a few posts back, I've got to replace the rocker cover as there is leakage.

The ltre/1000 miles was a generalisation I remember being told.
thats the Vx limits ;)

Ach well, its the last of the oil I got from you for the Vectra that's keeping her running just now.

Punto update - the old stereo from the Vec is now fitted, so I've got bluetooth etc again. At last :)

Think I'm booked into a Fiat specialist in Dundee to have the oil leak investigated on Sunday. Took the car to a mechanic in Peterhead last week and what Mark and I felt was a rocker cover leak on inspecting the car when I bought it has now grown arms and legs. Apparently the car's Head Gasket is blown (even though there are no obvious symptons????)

Taking this advice with a truck load of salt.

My Punto had an issue with oil levels though not sure if there was a major leak - didn't often delve under the bonnet with that one though no puddles were ever noticed after parking. I think though that an issue with the gasket could well lead to oil starvation which in turn could lead to your engine going pop.

If it's had work on the head done before and it wasn't done properly, that could be what's leading to increased oil consumption though that's just based on a quick Google rather than personal knowledge :p

Have to say though, when you were down the other week the car seemed to be running alright.

That reminds me, must check my oil at some point.

Anyway glad you got a Bluetooth CD Player fitted, I'm doing the same soon, putting the Wharfdale in Dubster.
Sorry to hear about the HG :fie:

Bridgend wanted £54 to do the job, not bad I thought untill I contaced Audiowise they'll do it for £45 that includes the new facia plate as Fiat wanted to be aqward in the GP with the CD Player.
I trust Audiowise more than I would trust Bridgend as I've pretty much always used Audiowise & I get things a little cheaper than they should be  .

What are you apologising for? As far as I'm aware the HG is fine and dandy. There's an oil leak issue, but no tell tale signs of HG failure and the car seems to be running fine. So hopefully a new rocker cover gasket and all will be well again :)

So a Fiat Dealership told you the HG's gone/ going??
I had with the Sei got told by a Fiat specialist that the HG had blown.... what a load of bull****.

Ok, massive thanks to Mark for the help today. Having used a huge amount of oil since buying the Punto, we've gotten to the bottom of the leak.

Initially thought to be a leaky rocker cover gasket, it wasn't.

As he was digging further into the engine, Mark commented that he'd be surprised if the car actually had a cam seal fitted. It didn't.

It does now, and it now has a shiney new rocker cover gasket fitted. Whilst this was all ongoing, I had a play about with replacing the window stickers...since the rear wiper had begun mauling one anyway...

no problem :) it was a gut feeling when i started to take it apart that it was something more blatantly obvious than simply a perished seal, it's pretty much the first time i've ever seen an oil squirt that far out on the back of the coil pack's outer bracket lol, hence the comment of "i'm half expecting to find no cam seal in there",

also had a little feeling it may be the case given how loose a few bolts were on the rocker cover, it didnt feel as though full attention had been paid when whatever was last done, got done.

so much for the aberdeen monkey you took it to for a diagnosis, head gasket? pfttt, more like a complete failure on his part to understand that oil squirts under pressure and can go anywhere/seeing ££££ signs when a punto comes in because of their head gasket reputation
