Yellow - FS Project Seicento 2

Yellow - FS Project Seicento 2

Ah, my bad. I thought from the way you were all talking about getting in someone who knew about timing yesterday that was the problem rather than needing confirmation

Honestly, that lambda reading is quite lean which means too much air to the fuel. I'd suggest looking at the MAP sensor!

Anything lower than 1 means its lean and anything over 1 is rich. Bang on 1 is what your looking for :)

This was the view looking towards Yellow and FiaSco's shed yesterday evening

Pretty spectacular huh? Hopefully it won't look like that tomorrow though as we're heading back to the shed to try and solve Yellow's high emissions problem.

Any cento experts care to join us? You'll be helping keep one of these great little cars on the road if you can. We're aiming to be there from 11:30 onwards

Quick(ish) day at the shed - thanks to @Malfunction fo stopping in past and to our resident mechanic @lewisp as well!

Work was fairly limited, today was more trying to troubleshoot MOT fails. Emissions we have a few things to check over. Cat is fine - I'm sure this was replaced during the rebuild so no worries there. Lambda *should* be ok but obviously if the engines not 100% on emissions then we'll check it as a matter of course. Sadly, the water pump gasket is leaking out again so we're going to have to renew. This ia bit of work that neither Lewis or I are comfortable with, so that'll have to wait until one of the resident engine experts is free to help us with timing and pump removal/refit. Hopefully it won't be a big job, he says.

We did, however, get the existing horn working 100% today. A fair bit of WD40 and a gentle bash with a hammer (the front facing bit was making contact with the backing plate, so fixed that) and its now spot on :D

Oh yes - we were going to check throttle body and refit with the one from FiaSco, but it was getting cold and none of us could really be bothered fettling away. We're hopefully geting a shot of a fault reader from Ransoman, with an OBD2 & adaptor. So this should tell us a bit more (hopefully) about where our issue is and we can hopefully troubleshoot from there.

I thought I was playing smart making sure I had work to do inside in the warm today but you all buggered off early and I had to stay until I'd finished what I started [attachment=1:2hhlte4m]cool.gif[/attachment:2hhlte4m]

Oh well, I'm a day ahead of myself work-wise so nothing lost :D

just giving you a heads that the timing is fairly easy to do on this mate and should give it a go yourself its very hard to get wrong really

Tip ex marks on each pully if your that worried about it and when doing up the tensioner a nice breaker bar in and a little leverage will go a long way on it if it doenst run correct retry as its a non intereferance enging so very unlikely to cause any damage if timing is out

Appreciate that dude, Mark had said something similar at the weekend :)

I'm up for trying the timing, just not on my own. I hear what you're saying that its tricky to get it wrong, but I've only ever seen timing done a couple of times, let alone been involved.

Still need to get a gasket for the pump anyway, but yeh. Will definately be up for getting my hands dirty again.

handy thing is that its all really easy to get into quite a lot of space there so not like the punto where you have to take of engine mounts all you do is take tensioner off then put belt on with marks in place and tensioner back on again ive had harder trouble changing some headlight bulbs on cars

After a bit of a break, we're back at the shed on the 28th December.

The Festive Fix It Meet is now on. Breakfast provided for those who can make it up to Aberdeen on the Saturday morning :)

So yeh....whos all in? Lets get Yellow 100% and MOT ready :D

@marti155 and @Johnno933 had already rebuilt the exhaust and pasted up the water pump. Obviously that needs 24 hours to set properly, so we'll use the opportunity to clean out the header tank - systems already been flushed out!

We've also been gifted a nice new temperature guage which we'll wire in at some pont soon - non essential for MOT, but when we have a mo we'll get it fitted for all the time it'll take.

So - exhaust repaired, throttle body swapped (cheers Stu!) the 4th spark plug changed and it was dark in the 'deen....time to jump yellow and see if all that hard work had paid off. Not only did she turn - and I'll be quick to point out, this wasn't even a 30 second run - but she's sounding a LOT better. And Stu was one of the first to point that out.

Ever the optmist, I'm quietly confident that somewhere in todays work we've possibly resolved the dodgy running issue.

Tomorrow - swap the front breaks over from FiaSco to yellow, plumb in the header and refill teh water, engine flush (still need to get a new copper washer and sump key but that won't be an ask) and with a little luck we can think about the MOT again!!

Nackered? Definately. Satisfied? Hell yes.

Massive thanks to everyone for todays shift!

Update from yesterday.

We're back on site and the header is plumbed in and coolant/water added. Lewis jump-started her and we left her to run for a while. Unfortunately we're still losing water and we've discovered the water pump is broken. As this is something we can't do ourselves I'm putting out a plea for help again. If anyone is available either through the week (not the 1st ;) ) or next weekend to replace the water pump and do all the gubbons that comes with that job your help would be greatly appreciated

thanks
