Hmm so that's you & me with car's declared as SORN!! put Rob in the Red Rocket and he'll no be able to move with the harness on LOL.

Ming has done a conversion before... as have i, but 8v - 8v includes no wiring. this engine being the 16v takes alot more wiring... also its not out of a newer car.. the punto engine is from a S reg, his yellow cinq is a R reg. so 6month in it.

and the 16v would win in a race no worries. the amount of power up high in the rev range compared to a 8v is silly. they just drive away on motorways and higher speed areas..

as for taking a drive in one, i suggest taking a spin in one thats been modded... a standard 1108 isnt really poki enough, they are but they should really have been a 1242 as standard.... also one thats been lowered! takes corners like its on rails!!!!

Agree. and appreciate for coming up and the effort :D . couldn't of progress up to now without ya :D

Am still worried about the air blowing out the engine. Gonig to investigate today. Might even pop the came cover off. I guess is there is a bent valve, it would be obvious with the covero ff ?

Hi Ming,

Do you see that coolent pipe you asked me about? i don't have one that size....sorry,if i had to take guess the ID would be about 15mm? or larger?

The biggest ID hose pipes i have that are spare are 8-10mm in any lengh you need up to 1m,

If you take the cam cover off the shims will fall out! so i wouldnt recommend it, and you cant see the valves without taking the hed off too,,, so that would be another head gasket....

tbh mate, get it compression tested if you want but id say get the wiring sorted, it was holding compression yesterday nicely... i reckon the main problem is just the wiring!

Where is the air you hear being pushed out from??is there any sign of the coolant level moving up and down in the expansion tank??on each compression stroke...Cheers Don
 
i can see next years scottish italian day with be a convoy of 16v centos :D which would make an interesting trip there :D

i say we gang up on some corsas, 106s, saxo's on the way there

one ned in a 1.2 saxo races away from the lights only to be left eating some cento dust, quickly followed by another cento, and another, and another, and another, each one that would fly past him would kill him a little more inside lol
 
lol saxo vtr's aint a match for my red menace so who needs 16v.....

and hope you get it sorted ming, sorry i had to go home! but keep me informed!!!!!! day by day fella.

oh and i was wiring my car today and accidently crossed two wires on my rev guage inside, and it turned my fuel pump on???? and wouldnt prime, just went on constant, when i undid it it was back to being normal.... propper weird lmao. shows how odd fiat wiring is though.
 
Hi All,

Well after being at mings yesterday picking up some toys lol i had the pleasure of seeing his little beasts and the new 16v lump sitting in place ready to be fired up....hope you get the problems sorted out soon and you get it running sweet mate,i sure can't wait for the drive in it,

Got half a meter of silicon hoses on ebay to extend the heater hose to the inlet manifold.

Might need to take the gearbox off to fit the clutch arm again :( . gutted!

Are you any further forward with the wiring?,have you manged to get a diagram or Manuel yet??
