Is that the rack you fitted Sat??

Rob! as Ming said it's the ONLY Vertical Convertible about, and unlike most which fold into them selfs and you then loose boot space, with the Del Sol's you don't have to comprise, as the roof is stored in a small compartment.

As for the rust on Ally's car..... ITS FRENCH!!!!!!!!!! and they rust like hell.

Aye I know. I think the nearest you could perhaps compare it to is the Smart Roadster though of course it's technically a soft top that disappears into the back. Was a great idea by Honda, shame they're not doing something similar with the CR-Z - though saying that it does look pretty decent. For a hybrid

Yeah it is Andi.

Think I have decided that I am going to strip all the suspension bits off for painting!

Let's hope nothing goes snap!!

Ming

Just use plenty of WD40 and have a blow torch on standby - rusty bolts = possible nightmare.

You won't believe in, am just in from the car!!! Got the bits painted and fitted! Here are the pics!

i have the motivation just need the location to do it :D

Have to say I know the feeling - working on the car in Paisley does sometimes make me a little paranoid. Tend to go to my parents a little down the road in Linwood, just a pain if I leave any of my tools back at my flat in town though as my Dad's not exactly the practical type

got a street but its uphill :D

same here could use the parents drive but as with the tools can be a bit of a pain :D

oh and ming im needing to get holdof the 3 pin diagnostic thingy for the seicento :(

although the OBD2 works great with the bravo :D

Abyss113 i'll pm ya.

Got the rear brakes stripped, and front tie bar bolted down. then found out i fitted the front suspension fork the wrong way round so all corrected!!

No pics for tonight, as nothing is nice to look at yet :) . Will be stripping down the rear suspensions down tomorrow!

Yup, that was indeed one of the reason why :) . IT was the first ever eletric hard roof convertible!

Don't want to rain on your parade, but the first electric hard top convertible was well before the Del Sol.
I'm pretty sure the first was actually the Peugeot 401 Eclipse which dates back to the mid 1930's, Ford played around with the idea in the '50s with the Fairline (a monster) before the idea cropped up again (other than in concept cars at various shows) with Honda. Ofcourse, no-one remembers that Honda beat Mercedes Benz to it in the '90s (just like they choose to forget that Alfa Romeo kicked Mercs arses in the DTM) but that's life.

Anyway, the Del Sol was an interesting drive. I tried one when they were new and it was a pretty nimble wee thing, IMHO needed more grunt though.

I think it was a 1.5, but might have been a 1.6. Was in late '92 or early '93 at a car show in Hampshire (was a student down there) and I was thinking about a new car as I had a job offer, tried the Del Sol back to back with a Nissan 100nx which was arguably a better handling car but fugly. In the end, I kept my Lancia HPE VX :cool3: What can I say, I'm old-school - and the ladies liked the Lancia
