I've moved onto the first mumblings of the planned project now, Boring but very important,

budgeting!!! :D (yes, they always go out of the window, but if i make an over induldgious worst case scenario budget, i may be okay there ;) ), anyway, this in any project is always the most depressing part, grand plans are all well and good, but when you put them all down on paper and count up very roughly what it would cost, it doesnt always seem such a great idea ;)

I've broken the project up into 5 stages to help with timing the project, speeding up important areas and most importantly, giving me time to work out where the hell the money for the next job is comming from! ;)

The plan is to get the Cinq looking right for St.Andrews this year, this will take me up to the end of stage 2. part 2 being the biggest pain in the jacksy, the exterior.

Being hugely ambitious i've went for the final price of stage 4 out of the 5 i have planned.

The first 4 stages i have planned are to get it to what i would consider a completed cinq. (5 being just for the hell of it! :D ) the full price i estimate including insurance etc was stupidly staggering!, so i hate to think what stage 5 would do to costs, considering that would be by far the most expensive single part..... turboing!!, wether i ever got that far would be another matter, i would happily rest with it up to 4.

The stages are,

Stage 1, Buying the Cinq, Cleaning up, sorting any critical rough edges.

Stage 2, Exterior and suspension.

Stage 3, Mechanical and performance,

Stage 4, Interior and sound

Stage 5, Turbo time!! ;) (this ones totally optional and at a much later date)

It's all still very much in the grand planning right now, but as soon as i get the Cinq, it's GAME ON!! :D

sounds good, especially stage 5!!!, cant wait to see this one

You any closer to finding one yet?

I've been out all day today scouring the whole of Dundee, Fife and Angus for Cinqs... no joy at all, found a couple of 899's in fife, both ludicrously overpriced i may add!!!

do they seriously think anyones going to pay £1495 for a 96000 mile 899cc cinquecento in green from 1995???, i wouldnt even pay that for an immaculate sporting tbh! (unless it was already turbo'd of course ;) )

Plenty seis going about, looked at a Tidy sei abarth that had a bit of potential, but again, was overpriced and the clutch felt a tad on the weighty side, so i ran away at that point!, anyway, for my plans, only a cinq will do :D

Only one i've seen that would be a potential is in Derby, currently on autotrader, no mention of any clutch work recently though or any word on belts, gaskets ect, :( , but if i dont see anything else, i'll give the seller a ring and see whats what :) , just the distance that puts me off, i'd need to go and give it a proper going over, my budget for the first 2 stages wont stretch to a clutch change, i've got an allowance in my budget for Brake pads,Discs, minor work etc, but something as major as that would be a no go. If something like the Hg was suspect, that would mean a huge speed up for the 1242 conversion, but i want these to happen later on to allow what i have to be spent on tidying it up for St. Andrews.

Hopefully there could be some news by Monday though :D

Btw, Anyone know what a good price for a Respray would be in a solid non metalic colour?

I've set a good bit aside for that part of it, just hope its enough or even better... too much ;) , it's the only exterior thing i cant/wont do myself

for the size of car and an easy solid paint probably around 400-600 ish on the outside for full car inside and out up to around 1k like if i can get some more practice in i can do it for £100 give or take depending on paint :D

but should be good to see up and running :D

I know of a red well pink Sporting in Kinghorn. Doesn't look like it has had much love but is straight enough to look at. You want maybe a card left under the wiper?

I'll keep that one in mind :) , cheers, i'd preffer a yellow one though, although its going to be resprayed, it will be an ever so slightly different shade of yellow, and i can maybe just in no more get away with an outside paintjob on a yellow, whereas red i'd have to do the whole car, interior and all since alot of paintwork is on show in a cinq. may have a couple of potentials to see, but its always good to have options!! (y), cheers for the heads up on that one :)

Yeah, 4-600 was roughly what i was expecting for a cinq in solid, so my budgets looking pretty acurate! :D , my only real worry for whats going to cost more than i expect is the wheels... i know almost exactly what i want but finding them aint easy. fun challenge though(y)

at one stage i was planning on going for deep dish, but for ease of fitment i changed my mind and thought of two tone 14" minilites from an mgb.

However, ive seen more wheels that take my fancy and are available at a reasonable price too, so it may change again!

The cinq hunt continues, went to see one today, it was an absoulte heap as it tuned out :( ive never seen a cinq with so much rust!!! they are normally pretty resistant to it too, this one has to have been an accident damaged, cheaply repaired version.

also sounded like the top end was dying and yup, you guessed it!, clutch thrust bearing was dying a slow and rather noisy death :( ,

despite the fact it was perhaps the worst cinq i have ever seen, i have to admire the sellers sales pitch and creativity. their insistance the ten ton clutch was normal for the car, and the fact you couldnt select first gear or reverse at all was just a quirk of the gearbox design until it was hot. and the fact it jumped out of second AND third was purely down to its continental character (well its italian). They finally gave up when i told them im looking for my third cento and knew that every single thing they had told me was in fact nonsense.

so the hunt continues!

:OI was lucky, i got MArtin's (Allenhelen on FF) old cinq it was absolutely fantastic with most of the work done. Good luck with it, if i seen naything i'll give u a shout.

Tihkn is best to buy one from a member on FF, as then you know the history pretty wel!!

the cinq is HERE!!!!!!!... and its a little monster!! :D

cinq 1242 conversion, induction kit, 40mm tb, lowered 40mm, uprated shocks, 14" compomotive mo alloys, rear disc brke conversion, punto gt front brakes, front strutbrace, the ONLY cinq in britain with a rear anti roll bar ;) , escort rs part leather front bucket seats, momo steering wheel and gearknob, Hormann front and reart bumpers, abarth side skirts, Janspeed twin exit exhaust and sports cat, limo black window tints, and italian stripe, lockwood dials, lockwood side skirts, uprated stero system and extra speakers in rear side panels.

You would never realise how low it is with the lowered suspension and seats! and the noise..... as jeremy clarkson would say, its biblical!!!!!!

spent this afternoon cleaning it, ive taken loads of pics, none will upload, lol, they are too big by the looks of it

i'll just flap randomly between all the stages when bits take my fancy, or i feel they need doing, seeing as i dont have nearly as much to do as i originaly intended
