just had an thorough examination of the belt under a bright light, belt in perfect condition right up to 3 notches before the first part of the breakage where theres a tiny indentation on the inside of the belt nearest to the wheel.

looks like theres been something in there, maybe a small stone or something.

Aye but you know what I mean, normally you don't have hold the throttle open Mark. ;)

indeed, my car wouldn't bore me with such a trivial issue. it preffers lunching driveshafts, engine mounts, timing belts or gassing me whilst stopped in traffic instead :p

Im wondering too. This is the first thing i've directly worked on has failed though, and it appears to come down to luck on this one. None of the failures i've had are connected

think is the first time i seen a timing belt on a cento snap like this ?

Ming

Defo first times i've seen a healthy belt let go on a FIRE. I'll try and get a full investigation done tomorrow at some point, i want to have a good look at the crank sprocket area. If any foreign body got in to cause damage thats where it'll be. Will look for any signs of damage to the sprocket. I'm 80% sure it wasnt a bad part and 95% sure it was not bad fitment. Think it's probably just a freak accident.

Think i'll go buy a belt guard to be safer from this happening again. Will defo be upgrading belt protection now :)

;) aye, you're Cinq does like to make you're life interesting

well, new timing belt fitted (thanks to Daz for getting it :) ), car running a bit off but i think im either 1 tooth off or the nipple in the pulley isnt seated right.

anyway, i located exact reason why the belt went. you wont believe it. honestly, you wont......

the reason was................................

my drivers side suspension spring it turns out has snapped, a shard of spring flew into the timing belt and ripped it off. was too dark to get pics but i will next time im at it.....

seriously, im begining to have had enough of this. you couldnt make it up :(

oh yeah, and i found out the slight kink in the sill is far worse with side skirt off....its a full blown dent :(

what to do, what to do :(

I'll be selling my lowering kit shortly :D . But i guess you would need something urgent?

Did the spring cut through the arches and timing belt cover ~~?? It is a really tight angle lol

i dont have arches or a belt cover

not sure what my next move will be, wether to lower again or jack the car up silly high to make a rally look lol
