Thanks :)

the astras sounding awesome, i could really hear it brilliantly when you pulled away from the junction in front of me :D , its sounds really sinister at low speeds! :D

Its looking great too, i think somebodys copying your style tho, i spied a black one with german style plates in the Ferry today with similar wheels and spoiler, didnt sound as good or have HID's though ;)

cheers ive yet to hear it from an uotside perspective :) the wee cinq sounds good though and it looks to be running better now :)

Ta :) , its going fairly well considering its running in a totally temporary state atm ;) it's away to get a punto 75 cam fitted within the next 2 weeks, then later a mccritch chip and the interior changed a bit in time for st andrews :)

I'm now also running fractionally higher fuel pressure thanks to a little tinkering ;) , its amazing what difference thats made, all the flatspots have been ironed out now, feels like i've found another 5bhp or so since stirling :D (even though i know i havent ;) )

am truely impressed :D . So do you feel any different comparing to ur last cinq ?? (guess it will be hard to compare, seeing this one is much more sorted)

Look like is home made, proper impressed!!!

Yeah, i notice fairly big difference :D , you can get the power on earlier through corners without getting anywhere near as much understeer as quickly :)

My old cinq was lowered by the same amount (on the same make of springs iirc), so its a fairly good car to compare the differences with :) , tbh, for general lower speed road use, the differences are marginal handling wise, but as the speed picks up, you really do feel it!, the back feels alot more planted :D , i could really feel the difference on the country roads at the last meet :D

Been getting a light tapping noise from the passenger side for a little while now and i always thought the exhuast hanger just needed tightened..... well that was disproved today!!!!

Accelerating away slowly from traffic lights was greated with a huge bang and crack, then some lovely grinding noises :( . at first i thought it could have been the anti roll bar bush gone, as the car didnt feel strange at all, it was just making worrying noises from the passenger side front wheel. the more i accelerated though, the worse it got. an the more pressure i put on the transmission the more worrying noises that appeared :( , no pulling under acceleratin so i dont think the driveshaft itself is dead in any way, but im 90% sure its popped its passenger side cv joint :(

all the symptoms seem to fit. i managed to crawl the car the 8 miles home, will investigate further tomorrow when hopefully it will be a bit dryer outside!!

hopefully is just the joint, on sayin that, its gotta be th most manky sticky job on a car, the grease seems to get everywhere lol

It's not one i'm looking forward to!!!! :( the car feels ok, thats the concerning part, no shudders or strangeness, just horrible noises! :( , i've never driven it so gently after hearing that noise!

Its almost definitley either the shaft itself or the joint. The transmission itself feels absolutley fine, no gearbox problems etc, the suspension, steering are all totally fine, everythings secure, so its been narrowed down to those 2 posibilities, especially as it get very noisy under power :(

and seeing as it seems to get even noiser accelerating with the steering on a turn (like accelerating out a juction), it points mainly to the joint.

If you find a nice steep hill on a decent bend going up it in 2nd gear with full throttle will make any C.V joint knock. If it is your C.V joint it will knock underload plus when steering is turned it will be more noticeable to hear. You will prob find that if it was the joint, the lil cage that holds the c.v balls in place has snapped meaning one or more balls move out of place which can lock the joint and the pop/bang noise would be the ball being popped into line (unjamming the locked c.v) due to the stress of load or turning the steering.

Also it seems that no one likes your old seicento lol, as it has been in quite a few peoples hands and finally ended up in my brother hands. They must of got scared of doing the work on it or sumthing as not one of them tried very hard enough to fix it. I have been working it and when i seen it I told him where its from "fiat scotland" but he aint reg'd to here but does have a grande punto linea.

It is the Cv joint, its started juddering too. went uphill today round a corner in second and the knocking was unbelievable!!, do the same on a straight its not so bad, but steering on, it sounds really bad.

However, the gearbox mount is looking a bit worse for wear and is a bit flappy(probably doesnt have much more than another 3k in it tbh), so i'll be doing that too, saves me doing it at a later date.

New problem for today!, my pathetic exhaust hanger failed (probably alot to do with roadtesting for joint failures ;) ), (and dont blame me, i didnt put it on like that! ;) ) the backbox is sitting 5mm off the ground, smacking it over bumps :( the sparks out the back must be amazing thoi!! :(

ive stopped driving it totally now thats happened, i dont want new exhaust time to come any time soon.

Hows the sei doing now your brother has it? glad to hear its still nearish to the forum at least :)

haha i was about to ask whats up with your exhaust when i drove past it coming hime this morning :)

The exhausts back on now :) , the CV joint has been replaced, its so much better :D , that gearbox mount is going though, i've done a special bodge on it just to keep it going until i get the new mount.
