Top Gear - New Host confirmed

Certainly completely unexpected. He comes across ok in interviews and is a petrol head so perhaps not a bad fit. But it all depends on how the producers play it really.

Still it'll make sure TG remains popular in the US so a win for the Beeb

I'd have liked Jay Leno, not that he would be available, but watching his Youtube shows, he seems to have a good head on his shoulders :)

I actually think that's a great call.

The show needed a major revamp, people complain it's not gonna be the same, good. That's what is needed rather than new people trying to do what the old presenters did, it was just going to be a bad imitation/tribute act of a show that was well past its sell by date. "Joey" will be a totally different character and he is mega serious into his cars and motorsport (as anyone who watched F1 will know, he attends almost every session, practice and all!).

Interesting choice could be a good one. Whatever they do or who else they have as a presenter it will never be top gear as people have come to know. Though on saying that the show had started to get a bit same old. Not too sure about Chris evens I know he is a massive car nut but I just find him a bit annoying a lot of the time.

Having mulled on this today...it's a yes from me.

Agree with Mark - and lets all be honest here - Top Gear had been **** for at least five or six years...then the VAT.

Evans is a true petrol head - he won over the critics on the R2 breakfast show and I think (and hope) he'll do the same with TG.

I'd actually be more worried about the Clarkson/Hammond/May offering. Big budget, big egos. I feel it's they who will be nervous now.

I can't decide if they were trying to tick as many diversity boxes as possible or if they realise there's a real marmite situation with Evans, Harris and Jordan and want to minimise the potential for people not watching because they can't stand a particular presenter.

Either way I won't be watching - but only because I can't rather than won't

With the old trio, it's like people watched Top Gear to check their adventures, not to catch up on new cars coming out. If I wanted to watch three people fanny about, I'd put the Stooges on. I loved Fifth Gear when it was on as it was purely about cars, they did do some things similar to TG (how far can a supercar go on a gallon of fuel and the like), but I loved it. Also, I think Jon Bentley is a great guy, so that may help me be biased...

Don't like Evans but Matt LeBlanc is always quite funny in interviews so could be a good move by the BBC. Regardless I am just happy we now have another car show to tune into! :)
