Work are sending me to Nigeria for a month on month off rotation, really unsure what to expect, as i usually get a nosebleed passing the city limits haha, had some of my jabs, and got a new passport done on monday past.

My ex wifes dad got taken hostage on a rig in Nigeria so they could negotiate for a pay rise. he vowed never to go back afterwards. apparently afterwards they act like nothing happened. :/

So basically.....be careful ;)

Will be onshore in a compound, arse is twiching a bit but hey... itll look good on my cv even if I only do one trip, the guys we have there say its sound enough. Al least I can always regret something ive tried than regretting not trying it. Cheers for the concerns tho... they are appreciated.

If you dont hear from me again... you know ive been buried in the desert somewhere haha

I know a few folks who work in Nigeria and the general opinion is as long as you don't leave the compound it's fine.

Mind you they did change the subject quickly when I asked what the likelihood of the compound getting attacked was...

meh either wy, itll be an experience haha

Watch where you stick your dick as well, think aids is still one of the biggest killers out there!

luckily.. im a married man and the only place my dick will be is trousers, hand or hovering the loo

Wishing I hadn't read this...

And trying not to make a comment about how you could be on the receiving end if kidnapped...

I'm sure you'll be fine :D

The way im looking at it is, im going to be getting paid reasonably well for going, and if im kidnpped, insurances will pay my family handsomly, so either way they will be looked after :)

sorry if that sounds arsey, its not meant to be. Its a chance to broaden my horizons i suppose, working with different people from different cultures, and as for being kidnapped, im well aware of the risks :)

It doesn't sound arsey at all - in fact it's pretty much what I've heard from folks already working out there. Money's good, it's an experience and if you follow the rules it's not all that risky.

But we'll still take the **** if the opportunity arises ;)

Leave tomorrow 6am flight... 4am check in!!!

This place is fckn ace!! Security escort everywhere, and they have guns.... huge ones!!

About 25º from 3am till 11pm, im living in a huge 5bed house, bar, restaurant, shop and sports areas all here, geko's running about all over the place.... love it

If you are willing to relocate then i can put in a cv for you (I work for Proserv), or try http://www.ge.com or try Cameron controls
