well i missed my pc gaming days using a HTPC in the room so have sot rid of that and onto my new pc with some nice specs :D

amd X2 Phenom II 3.00ghz 8mb Cache(which ive unlockled to quadcore and upped to 3.50Ghz so its now 14ghz In total )
Water Cooled CPU heatsink so no more fan noise and running at 32oC overclocked :D
with 4gb ddr3 (waiting on second set of 4gb ddr3)
Hiper Type-r 600 Modular PSU
WD 80GB Raptor 10000Rpm drive for OS and games
1x750GB and 1x500GB for extra storage
just waiting on a Nvidia XFX GT 240 512MB DDR5 memory to complete the rig

all this so i can get back into my battlefield :D

anyone else play online :D i shall join in at some point

There is nothing better than gaming on a pc :D keyboard and mouse is the only way to go!

I have bad company 2 if that is the game you are playing. I think I still have the 2042 and bf2 disks somewhere too lol

yeah i have got battlefield 2 coming but bloody ea deleted my 2042 as i was playing that for years so itll be battlefield 2 for the time being :D

Thats some machine you have yourself there!

I don't think 80gb will last long with today's games though. I have WoW installed (although its played maybe once a week) and that takes up 17gb!

Whats that about unlocking cores though? I have lost touch with new hardware since I built my pc a few years ago, Am I right in assuming they use the same chip for quad as they do for dual but they just lock out 2 and flog it as dual?

When you get BC2 through give me a shout for a game? :)

liek i said the 80gb is just for running a couple of games on and an operating system nothing else just to make it easy for the monthly re-installs :D

as for the processors they are all made quad cores but some come with defective cores or defective from amd tests so they lock them out and if you get the correct motherboard you can unlock the hidden cores and play with the voltage a bit you can stabalizze them if needed to be able to use them and with the new 6 cores that are out the quad cores can be unlocked to the 6 cores depending on what model it is :)

Having a fast HD for your OS drive is a great idea. It's one of the reasons many people are getting SSDs for that very same purpose

Rest of the spec sounds pretty decent as well. Somewhat blows my 5 year old Pentium 4 out of the water  But then, I don't PC game. Got a bunch of older games like the Keen series, the original Doom trilogy and the first GTA game and that's about it. Console gaming is king in my opinion, in fact I actually prefer the PlayStation version of Doom to the PC one

i am a football manager addict

i can't currently play football manager

if i appear very cranky and irrational, this is why.

I have one football game - the original FIFA for the Mega Drive. This is about as close as I'll ever come to being involved with the sport, unless money's involved in some sort of betting capacity
