Hi All,

For many Months Ive been looking into changing my coolant hoses on my 98 Cinquecento Fire Sporting 1108cc,but most of you will know there isn't a kit on the market for the Fiat 1108cc Fire Engine,

So i bit the bullet and bought some parts and Custom built my own using Polyester Reinforced Silicone Hoses from ASH,

You will find a link below to ASH but there are many many other brands on the market if your not keen to use ASH,but i can confirm the any of the ASH products Ive bought and used are of good quality!.

http://www.autosiliconehoses.com/

Right what i opted to do rather than spend lots of cash using alloy connectors to keep the price low to make up my custom hoses i opted to use the stock plastic sections that are a part of the stock rubber coolant hose system,

Below you will see the stock coolant hoses before i split them down to salvage the plastic sections,

You will need to cut off the old factory clips that are a compression fitting so you will need to hacksaw them off so you can then salvage the plastic fittings like below,

Now in my custom build i only used the below parts from the above pic:

1). Bleed valve.....Top Left in the above pic

2). Four Branch Section......Bottom Right in the above pic

2). 90 Degree T-Piece.......Top Right in the above pic

On the Cinquecento this 90 Degree T-Piece is not 90 degrees, its a Straight T-Piece but because you will find later in your build its tight down behind spi unit so the 90 degree T-Piece makes the job so much easier as the new silicone hoses bend but not much before they start to kink,i got this one from a 2002 mpi seicento at my local breakers for 2 quid,

You can use the rest of the plastic sections in your build if you wish, but to be honest there is no need for them to be used,

You will find below a list of parts you need for the job, this should cost anything between £60-£90 which to be honest isn't bad, mines cost me £130 but i over ordered, but even at that price i didn't complain and i guess you won't either?,

1). 1metre of 32mm ID Polyester Reinforced Silicone Hose

2). 2metres of 16mm ID Polyester Reinforced Silicone Hose

3). 1metre of 8mm ID Polyester Reinforced Silicone Hose

Link to the above parts below

4). 3 x 90degree 32mm ID bends

5).1 x 32mm OD Alloy Pipe Joiner

6). Worm Drive Hose Clips

7). 2L Summer Winter Coolant Antifreeze......Ethylene glycol

Now Iam sorry i don't have any sizes that i cut these pipes down to,some cars might be differant to others depending on what other aftermarket parts you have fitted around your engine bay so its best you work that out yourself,to be honest its not hard, below you will find some images and help to what i done,

So i made up the section that joins the top radiator outlet to the thermostat using 2 x 32mm ID 90 degree bends and an alloy connector to join them, you do need to take some length off the 90 degree bends to get a good fit like below

Then using the 4 branch plastic molded stock section and a 90 degree 32mm ID bend cut down to size and a short 32mm ID straight section cut to size i made this up below to run from the lower radiator inlet to the steel water pump pipe,

Then using a 16mm ID 1 Metre section i joined up the lower header tank fitting down to the 4 branch section just like the stock system used to be below,

Ash1119.jpg

Ash1120.jpg

Ash1113.jpg

Then using another 1 Metre of 16mm ID hose i run that section from the last remaining branch up to the top heater matrix fitting,i also cut my breed valve in as it once was, although its 3 inches lower than it once was but that's OK as i had no problems breeding the system afterwards,

Then using one of your off cuts of the 16mm ID hose using the 90degree T-Piece section connect the outlet on the rear of the inlet manifold up to the bottom fitting on the heater matrix fitting like below,

Ash1110.jpg

Ash1116.jpg

Then using an 8mm ID hose from the top of the header tank to the 8mm fitting on the 3 branch plastic section like below,

Ash1117.jpg

Ash1110.jpg

On your car this 8mm hose that runs from the top of the header tank to the 8mm fitting on the 3 branch plastic section will pass through the spi throttle body unit at the front exiting the rear, but my (SPI throttle body unit( IS NOT WATER COOLED),so i didn't have to do this (BUT YOU WILL),

In the end i had to take the long way round from the 8mm fitting on the top of the header tank to the 8mm fitting on the 3 branch plastic section down behind the spi unit, but you might be able to do it the way it was when it was once stock but i was having trouble getting the 16mm hoses to go that direction without kinking?,they silicone hoses are happy to bend but it is right in tight down behind the spi unit hence way i went the long way round,

Once you've done this, check all the hose clamps have been tightened then fill the car up with 4l of fresh coolant and test for leaks......and bleed the system if necessary,

I hope this helps
