hi. i have a fiat stilo 2.4 abarth 2 door 2004 reg . the person that had the car let the battery go flat and now there is a gearbox failure . i can not get gears now. is there software for the gearbox ecu so i can reprogram it . thanks p.s i am looking for the cd for the satnav.

Not sure about programming The gearbox Johno933 should be able to amswer that one for you or at oeast point you in the right direction. Sorry camt be much more help

hi. thanks for the help . i woz just working on the car to find out that the back tail gate will not open . i had to go inside the boot and take the the cover of to open the tail gate . i think there is no power going to the lock. when i press the fob for the tail gate nothing happens. ?

Boot notmopening. 1st thing is check the function for boot lock through the menu in dash....I have bought many stilos cheap because fodlk thought boot was buggered but it was disabled in the menu.

As for gear selection 1st thoughts are diagnostics...I have fiat ecu scan software, but am no expert at using it..jatkinson is the man that knows more than me, but I will hapily plug in if you local enough and see what we Can find.

failing that have a look in fiat forum threads am sure it will have already been mentioned.

hi. johno donnie here thanks for that . i will check the menu and try to get it working. where are you based im at the very top of Scotland i can trailer the car down to you to see if it will work. do you no someone from fiat garage that can look at it i will pay the person if it will work and is not to dear . the last fiat i had woz a fiat 131 sport 2 door 2 liter twin cam in the year 1993. the best car i ever had. the stilo needs a little tlc but first i need to see if i can get the gearbox working . sorry for the time wasting.

Hi Donnie, have the same car and I have also had an intermittent problem with my gear box. There are a couple of things to consider.

1- is there enough transmission oil in the gear box, if not the pump can't change gear.
2- the gear box pump is linked to the drivers door and everytime you are entering the car you should hear a small humming sound, this is your pump priming itself, if you don't hear it this could be caused by a few issues. The pump relay is stuck and needs replaced(most common cause) or the pump is faulty.

However

Seen as your having issues with you boot lock too have you checked the fuse box in case something untoward has happend and blown a few important fuses.

On another note I live in fraserburgh and have a friend here who used to work for fiat as a diagnostic engineer and he would probably look at it for you if all else fails.

hi. mate thanks for that . the transmission oil is full and when i open the drivers door i can here the pump priming up i think . i have checked the fuse box and the there is no bad fuses . the tail gate . there is no power to it . when i open the boot the boot light will not come on i checked it with a meter no power. the boy that i got the car off a told me that when he pot the car to the m.o.t it failed on a side light bulb the m.o.t person removed the battery of the car to pot the new bulb in and when he pot the battery back on the car and started it and stuck it in to gear the car would not give him gears . the only thing that is wrong with the car is the tail gate and the gear box . the needs some tlc to get it looking okay again . i do not wont to fix it untill i get th gear box repaid. hope to speck to you soon. if i can get your tel number i will give you a call . thanks donnie
