Car Maintenance, How good are you? Do you regularly check over your car to ensure it's road worthy?

Sadly I've neglected the cinq maintenance wise. Tyre pressures got checked after a wobble on the m/way, 6psi under. Got home last night, Gill was outside an said the car sounded rough, popped the bonnet an the rocker cover gasket has gone again and oil is soaking the outside of the engine, resulting in oil level down to the minimum. Finally screen wash, think that ran out a week ago

Must get better an start doing it weekly. Just topped everything up on both motors so be good till the weekend an check the cinq oil again. Suppose with my 'speed' runs ad best keep an eye on the oil :devilish: don't want to blow the HG.

The barge's MOT is booked for the 7th, don't expect it to fail on anything but you never know.

at the moment i've nothing on the road to check over

when i do though, i do the basics weekly, oil and coolant level etc, so i guess not too bad. shame it seems to make zero difference to reliability :(

Well currently I end up opening the bonnet every other day while I'm charging up the battery before shutting the Stilo off. And though the HG's still a bit of a worry, coolant and oil are still at decent levels and there's no discernible leaks I can see so it all seems well :)

I do need to sort the battery terminals as they've been off so many times due to needing to hall it back to my flat for a charge if flat. Basically, there's a plastic spacer in on both connections and I've somewhat overtightened them on occasion. As such, they're a little squashed and the actual metal part's ended up becoming a little distorted resulting in them not being tight on the terminal. So, pliers and a cheapo replacement off eBay shall be the solution me thinks :D

Shall see if I can do a temp fix while the battery's out of the tray due to repositioning the mount for the induction in the next few days :)

I'm poor for it. And with my milage it's more vital than usual to make sure everything's in order.

I try and check oil at least once a week. Having a high milage motor, and a smokey one at that, oil usage needs to be maintained v.regular. Ditto coolant. And screenwash. I'm getting better than I used to be, but still not checking regular enough.

Screenwash topped up Sunday after trying to use the washer jest to remove Seagull **** from the windscreen, drove about 2miles to nearest Open Jetwash, to blast the **** off the windscreen.
Oil- Think may just check it......
Coolant- seems ok from what I can see on the bottle, might just top it up Thursday Morning.
Tyres pumped up Wednesday Evening 2.2Bar Front (32PSI) & 2.0 Rear (29PSI).
Tyres in general, stil grippy, good ol Michelin Energy Saver.
Brilliant Tyres in the wet & dry. 175/65 R15 84H

Not as good as when I was running an old banger. Check tyre pressures when I think the car feels a bit funny and occasionally oil, water etc but I've kinda gotten out of the habit overall. Even screenwash only gets done when I run out. I think I've got warrantied-car complacency

i should really be top notch at it since its my daily job to do it on my truck but meh :D

my checks :)

tyres - not flat - all good :D
oil - no rattles - all good
coolants - engine running - all good
screenwash - can i see - all good :D

check them all the time. im very good with that hense keeping a sei alive to 212k lol. if i have the money spare i change filters and oil regularly and if not just to the manual spec but check levels at all times.

i check the petrol level every time it stops mid drive :p, coolant while im at it look through the bottle (clean bottle) and washer i have a warning light (same with the brakes),

i also check powersteering and brake fluid regularly for colour and quantity just to be sure :)
