well i got fed up changing cds all the time with the bog standard cd player in the bravo and not having the blue and me thingy in the car so have added my own blue and me thingy with a bit more oooomph to it :)

so have now added a nice and shiny pioneer double din and fed a usb socket down to where the normal usb socket sits and have added some leds to illuminate the area of the usb socket

second i have received my HID kit with canbus prevention system and digital ballasts and plugged them in so just needing to gt my sidelights now as have some led sidelights here with OBC free errors but they are not working :(

Nice going :)

ive still to fit my hid's, the black negative wires a complete faf on an h1 because it needs to connect on the light itself, so modification of wires is needed

it doesnt mate the negative is inside the head lamp unit im running H1's aswell i could do it for ya in about 10 minutes :0)

On the calibra, im guessing because the lights are so narrow theres a brown wire that runs onto the headlight via a bullet connector, the black wire needs to be connected to that either by another bullet or by stripping back the black wire and stuffing it into the current bullet, think its just my headlights that are a pain in the arse, they are a total bodge job from the factory

according to the cali forums its the only way they fit. Il have a go, if not il let you have a shot at them, :D

Speaking of electrics, you wouldnt happen to have a voltmeter by any chance?

just whenever, if your at Arbroath sunday, could maybe get it there?, that'd be a help, ta.

im trying to trace why my drivers side brake light is constantly lit up full like the brakes are stuck on with sidelights or headlights on, but doesnt actually light at all with them off, if i can figure out where its getting the extra voltage from to light it with them on, i'll hopefully be able to trace the problem, i think its maybe a light plug terminal or a broken earth wire somewhere seeing as my number plate lights are also acting slightly strangely at times... but it's stumped everyone thats looked at it so far :S

ive had some good lighting troubles with the old bravo when it comes to the rear light units might be able to help ya out on that one :)

but yeah ill bring it along for ya :)

cheers :D

if i see you around before then, i'll give ya a toot and show you the problem :)

barring a few paint things and the electrical issues i might even have the car about 75% finished for Sunday, i might even clean it again...that'll be twice in 3 weeks now, lol

Think I had been looking at a similar double din head unit for the Stilo as like yourself I'm sick of changing CDs. Got an FM transmitter, but I only effectively use it as a charger as the signal's not exactly brilliant. How much did the one you got set you back?

Your HID kit fully legal? Just I know it tends just to be projector style headlights that can normally be adapted to take the set up legally, can't remember offhand whether the Bravo has them or not. Had been thinking of doing the same to the Stilo, but have heard mixed feedback about this from others who've had it done. Was going to at least swap my bulbs over for one's that produce less of a yellow light though at the very least.

technically its illegal to retro fit hid kits to cars if they dont have light washers iirc. That said, your incredibley unlikley to get pulled for hids unless you go for mega bright blue ones, as long as you go for 6000k or below, you should be fine.

i think the bravo does have projectors iirc, so does the cally. worst case scenario though, when it comes to mot time, i'll unplug them and stick the standard bulbs in. most mot testers wont bother though as long as the beams are correctly aligned.

thing is for me, i actually need hids, the cali is famous for having possibly the worst headlights on any production car ever made. not only are they really narrow, the whole wiring setup is a total GM bodge job, they are basicly designed to switch on and off, end of. no thought put into even getting the correct voltage to the bulbs! before hids, owners often upgraded the wiring to a and it made them inastantly twice as bright!, then hids came on the market and it solved the issue even better.

i really need mine fitted, you can only see about 5-10ft in front of the car in an unlit area!, thats frankly terrifying up say, the a90 perth to dundee road after midnight, it doesnt even light up the cats eyes until they are within touching distance of the car almost

as for the blue bulbs, i wouldn't. if your not going to upgrade to hids, id go for high performance normal bulbs, the blue edge usualy takes some of the power away

its not really illegal to fit the HIDS to a car becuase since the wasers and auto leveling system have to be fitted from factory there is nothing about the fitment of aftermarket HIDS without the washers and leveling system its all red tape really :D But the projectors are MEANT to keep the beams poited the correct way il find out when its MOT ime in 3 years :)

and he whole stereo sytem setup including cages facia+ harnesses was £150 so wasnt to bad in the end

Sounds like a great price for the system, had been looking at other head units that were almost double that price.

I think apart from brightness, the main thing is an even spread of light that doesn't dazzle or go beyond a certain level. My mate's had his HIDs on his 106 for a fair old while now and never been stopped once. And yeah Mark, I remember reading about the Calibra having crap lights. I remember my mk2 Punto one's weren't much cop either, especially when the water going into one caused all the bulbs to flash like a disco when I indicated

Have only had to replace a number plate bulb in the 4 years I've had the Stilo thankfully. Replacing the front ones is (on the NS at least) taking the bumper off or going in through the wheel arch. If one bulb goes, I'll browse the forums and see what people recommend :)
