well i thought id join the nearly dies thread :D

turns out my car has been drinking oil through the pre-cats in the manifold and they have broken up and fell into the main cat and damaged that then with the way the engine is desinged the debris from the broken cats have been going up the manifold and back into the engine now the oil has run dry after 750miles of owning the car and damaged what sounds like the bottom end or head so need to see what i need to have done but needles to say i have an amazing sounding rattle at 2-3krpm :D ahh the joys of motoring

im thinknig about the celica engine swap but would never notice the 50bhp extra unless i was racing the car :)

the boy who sold the car is on holiday so need to wait on him getting back so i can speak to him about it

Rather sucks :(

If they've sold you car with an iffy engine and you've not even covered 1000 miles before it's broken, they should hopefully take responsibility. I mean, they can hardly claim wear and tear on that like they do with many other repairs

Hope it gets sorted soon as and doesn't cost you too much if anything to put right.

it isn't a sales problem, it's a warranty/service department issue, so he would probably just reffer you to them anyway. id try and see about it asap as they might try to get out of any repairs by saying you've been running it over a period of time damaged without oil.

Like i've said, my mates a sales manager down at Arnolds vauxhall dealership in town, if it's any help i could find out the claims procedure from him

yeah could find out and see what he says bit annoying cause i couldnt get the extra warranty option on the car as it was older than 5 years old :(

Yeah I wouldn't wait until the guy comes back from holiday. As said before he's just a sales chimp so nothing he can do regards to the repair.

And if you put it off they will probably come back and say you should of took it in earlier.

yeah but he is the one who will have to authorise any repairs on the car in the first place and im needing the service book to be delivered yet as im gonna by an external warranty incase the unthinkable happens

hey cento you think me and you would be able to swap engines over in the mr2 :D i could borow my mates ramp for a day id guess hed be okay with it for a small fee :D

i'm sure it would be doable ;) :D

I spoke to Kris very, very briefly last night by the way and asked him what the system is for a repair on a car thats been bought recently, he was supposed to be getting me the definitive answer today, but he said as far as he knew, if it was taken in and the guy who's dealing with it was off for any reason, the Branch manager should deal with it/make the referals. they would probably take it in there and then for inspection as soon as they could because of the nature of the problem.

like that though, thats just what he thinks would happen, so i'll push him for that definitive answer, he's just kinda busy atm moving house etc, but i'll probably catch up with him over a few pints in the next few days, so i'll hopefully get more info from Arnolds side of it (y)
