What's the method to remove the gear knob?
And is the gaiter fixed to a frame?
I'm having a new gaiter made in black leather with green white red stripes topped off with a black aluminium gear knob with red embossed 12345R

The gaiter in the picture is for a 500 but mine is being made for the fiorino

it`s very simple, you need pull up on gaiter ( firm but gently ) and when gaiter become free you need turn knob counterclockwise ( it is on thread like nut )

On the bottom of your OEM gaiter will be some sort of plastic frame, you need to remove that, attach to new gaiter and re install everything back, in theory all is simple, however...

1) Depends on quality of new gaiter, you may have pre cutted holes to instal plastic frame, but on mine it was cutted in wrong place so you may need sharp blade to correct that

2) Leather is thicker than OEM plastic crap, so it may not fit correctly but don`t worry about it, leather is flexible and compressible, after couple weeks everything should settle

3) New knob my have no thread or thread with different size, you may need some adaptors

My new gear knob does come with an adaptor kit and the knob is secured by an allen screw to lock into place
The gaiter is oem pattern and should fit exactly
The knob even has the grove around the bottom to secure the top of the gaiter

New gaiter and gear knob fitted
Took about an hour to do but what a transformation it has made
Well happy with the outcome
The gaiter I had made fitted a treat it even had the fixing tab slots pre cut!
