Hi all
I'm having an issue with it taking a long time to start especially if it's been sat for more than 10-15 mins. If I stop and start again right away, it starts relatively ok. Not great but acceptable.
I've added a few screenshots as I think it is fuel related. This van sat for a bit as it had immobilizer issues.
Once running, it drives fine unless I really push it. If I do, it sometimes throws the engine light on and gives me these codes.
DTCs are P0089 and P0003 with a random U0422.
I'm going to recheck fuel filter, air filter and EGR and give the MAF a clean but was wondering if anyone has experience with this?
Are the injector readings within range in your opinion?
Im concerned it may be fuel pump related though I have no real basis for that. I can hear the pump prime when turned on, I've tried letting it prime a few times before cranking but it's hard to say if it helps.

Many thanks

I should mention, once it's fully up to temperature, it's low on power. If the engine light comes on, power is mostly restored.

Hello. Yep all good. New plugs, new filter, everything seems fine but I've just tried something else. I noticed from another thread something about hard starting,. My pressure is around 130-145 when cranking. I believe this is low so may be the cause of the starting problem. I wonder if it's related to the running performance as well though because when it's running, the pressure is fine?

Yea that makes sense. I wonder what the normal is for RPM while cranking.
The battery is fairly new and there are no obviously bad grounds but I should recheck them.
Basically now I'm wondering, assuming it's spinning fast enough, could that low pressure be anything else besides the pump?

I'll try and recheck things and put the battery charger on overnight and see if that helps.

Thanks for the replies
Cranking rail pressure requires RPM
(To spin HP Pump)

if you are in cold conditions..
That may enough to slow cranking speed

Mine does it in the cold too...local garage said one of the injectors is leaking too much fuel, but I don't think they checked it too deeply... Warm weather - back to normal. Cold weather, ringingingingigngiginging vroom. Whilst I'm here is it true a timing chain overhaul requires engine removal on these? Thanks in advance

Hi Rio,
Not done one yet myself but I can't see why the engine would need to be fully out to do the chain? Seems it's one of those, well I've taking off loads already, may as well go all the way.

I'm thinking mine has a different problem as it can crank for 30/40 seconds before kicking in and the pressure during crank is a bit lower than it should be. I do need to recheck the injectors. Hopefully it's not multiple things or an expensive pump.

Ed
