Typically with the Fiat security system several ECUs are coded. As a minimum this is the engine ECU and Key/Locking ECU. Most also code the Body ECU.

If the number don't match the vehicle won't start.
What is the history? Did the van suddenly stop working or did the fault appear after you changed ar ECU or did other work?

The code is embedded in the ECU and cannot be changed with Examiner or Multiecuscan. The official line is you have to buy a replacment ECU through Fiat and it is coded to your car at the factory (may not be as expensive as you think). Some ECU repair shops can recoe some ECUs, you would have to check with them. Only other option is to replace all the coded ECUs with a matched set from another vehicle and either swap the key transponder chip or re-programme the old keys to the new ECUs.

Re: Qubo and fiorino ECU numbers

Thanks Robert.
I understand that and have found a few offerings of ECU/BCM kits but most seem to have additional number on them. For example the kit from a qubo has 2 extra lines of numbers that I believe relate to the remote alarm/locks. I simply don't know if this matters or not. Perhaps I need to use a kit from a 'basic' model of van that matches better?

Re: Qubo and fiorino ECU numbers

My van only came with a single key that is obviously not original. The van stalled one day and simply wouldn't start again. Ever since then it has had the immobilizer light on the dash. There were a few CAN communication codes but these were more likely due to the battery disconnect. The only code that returns each time is U0426

Have you tried the old favorite.......disconnect the battery perhaps overnight, then reconnect and maybe !!!!! It worked on one of my daughters Puntos, no problems since. Cheers Qube O.

Re: Qubo and fiorino ECU numbers

Yes lol tried that first.
It's now running. Changed ECU, BCM and ignition and now have a factory key.
It's been sat ages and is very low on fuel. Still MOTd so I stuck my trade plates on and went for a quick run. Got P0089 and P0003 which I think is due to old fuel and it REALLY needing a service and fuel filter.
Hopefully all sorted now.
Thanks
