Hi all , new to the forum after not long buying a 1.3 12 plate Fiorino and seem to be getting the usual problems , my latest is the glow plug warning light , i have done a few searches now and cant see what i need to know !

I wanted to test the resistance of the plugs before i buy any as i have seen that it could be certain electrical connections elswhere .
This is where i noticed the lack of room to get to said glowplugs !
Can anybody enlighten me as to what has to come off to get the plugs out , i have in the past removed stuff and wasted time doing so !
I see the turbo and exhaust as being right in the way , what has to come off or down to get it done please .

I already got caught out with the starter motor bolt , before i realised it was cunningly hidden in the other side of the bell housing whilst doing the clutch :bang:
All help and tips thankfully accepted
Cheers Rih

Thanks for reply , i have looked in the panda section with no joy , and as i dont Know what else the engine is in i am none the wiser , I just assumed that maybe another member might have done it before and could shed some light , i will just have to keep looking !

Thanks Qube O , I have my old man to blame , he got the met green Qubo so i went and got the fiorino for some reason , i was always a T4 man before , just wanted small for a change .
As to my dilema i have just found a step by step on you tube on an astra 1.3 lump and it shows dpf and a fair bit getting removed , the turbo seemed to stay in place though , so i think i will go with that and hope for the best !
Before i do though ......could there be anything im missing on checking out , i checked out the battery just in case it might be that , the only other thing is a relay that i have seen mentioned with a possible wiring fault ?
I thought i might whip my old mans if i knew where to find it , just to check of course !

Oh and the problem is the dash light and check glow plug message , it does start but i dont want to get caught out from it getting colder now !

My advice is to hold your fire for a while until you get to know it more. Look up multiecuscan and you will discover very powerful and affordable diagnostics are available. It would have to be Arctic before a real glow plug issue really took effect, it might yet be a wiring issue.

did that help with location of the socket.. for diagnostics?,

I read the excellent GUIDE in the stilo section for my JTD.. as the light has flashed for the 3 years I've owned it..

got REALLY random readings.. and knew what a PIA they are to access / change I've left well alone

my experience of ancient diesels says it's lousy connections rather than "broken" glow plugs

OK , I looked at the Stilo guide , very good thanks , i will check the plugs to get them out of the equasion , problem now is where to find the relay in question , looked on the bulkhead and cant see it for looking , i even went to the main dealer to see one , he said it was on the bulkhead too !
WHERE IS THE DARN THING ????? PLEASE !

Panic over all done .
Turns out that the relay is to be found underneath the coolant header tank !
Not that it did me any good as i got no readings at all off any of the glow plugs , my brother said to take a live off the battery and touch iton the end of each glow plug , if it sparks its good if not then shot .
Not one of them sparked , which would explain recent poor starting !

did you test them out of the car..??

I've seldom found one that doesn't glow..??:bang:

Readings how? Checking for sparks is an archaic method and meaningless.

RichFiorino....??

Using the argonaut method..with a meter...
Probably...

Ive chaged around 30 over the years.. only a couple have failed to go 'cherry' when coupled direct to a battery.

Hence my suggestion of checking \ cleaning the connections before attempting a plug swap.
