Technical Check engine light

Technical Check engine light

So ive scanned the thing and at the end of the scan it just said "send report". I pressed that expecting a code to show but nothing happened? Give me back the pre computer days when you could fix an engine with the tap of a hammer and a tuning fork:). Any idiots guides to using this would be lovely.

Hi,
Interesting, when not plugged ito car mine oes the same thing, but the instructions grey link box on this page
http://www.multiecuscan.net/HowToUse.aspx
Says it should list the modules. You could try the scan DTC instead but it's slower. You must know the capacity of your vehicle and thre are few options so you could just run through them all.

Thanks Robert, I'll try again. As a matter of interest which lights should be illuminated on the module plug? I think only the red was on but there ate some green ones too?

Connected to the van and ran the interface test and it now says something like interface good and should be able to connect and underneath said "latency too high". Tried to scan ecu again and it did same as before - send report message on completion. Help!!

Hi,
Try "Scan DTC" or do a best guess on the model. What version of MES are you using?

Had a go at that yesterday but the scan dtc button doesnt highlight and wont allow the option. Its the latest available download of mes. Ive read that faulty plug in bits can be an issue and need a capacitor removing?

Hi, what interface did you buy? (ebay or amazon link if possible.
Some need a resistor removed, but this does not sound like that I problem.
Do the lights on the interface flash when you try to do a scan?

There is some useful fault finding info on the MES website.

It was the second ebay link that you posted in a message above. The lights flash when doing interface test but not when scanning the vehicle.

Just had another try with the scanner and connected up and pressed F10 to connect to ecu - previously ive just pressed F11 to scan. The F10 prompted a message saying that com port 1 doesnt exist. Any thoughts?

Have you set-up the interface and run the interface check?
It's quite hard to know what is going on from a distance.

I think I did the interface check and it said something like its okay but has high latency or something?

Finally given up and went to a local garage who scanned it fir £20. The fault code is P24537a - diesel particulate trap delta pressure sensor plausibility fluid leak or seal failure. What does this mean - can it be fixed or do I need a new component?

This is possibly just a failed pipe between the DPF and sensor. There are two small diameter pipes. Check for damage, rot or leakage.

I't a shame you can't get MES to work, it will display the sensor readings which can give a better idea of the exact fault.

Thanks for the reply as ever. Where do i find the dpf? Also if i fix it will the light go off or does a scanner tool have to clear it?

Hi,
The DPF is in the exhaust, middle box (Largest one, right side of image below. Rear box not shown)
emaps

Punto picture showing pressure pipes "1" but yours will be similar.
Light may reset itself after a few drives, don't know for sure.
