Thought I'd say hi! I dont own a Fiat, I have a Citroen Nemo. I do have Fiat seat covers in though so I thought I'd come to a Fiat forum for some advice!

I'm wanting to lower my Nemo and have seen that you can use Corsa D springs, but have also seen people mentioning the use of coilovers. Would it again be Corsa D coilovers that are used?

(Was going to put a pic of my van here, but not allowed to post pics yet!)

I have added stainless side bars and Fiat Bravo 17in alloys. I have just bought some mini cooper s 18in split rims to fit, although they need quite a lot of work and mods to get them to fit!

Any help with the suspension would be much appreciated

Cheers
Rob

Hi mate and welcome
Luigi here.
What the hell under that badge lies a fiat and thats that
not sure about the coil overs, but your right about the springs.
check out my van on here, with 17'' stillo blades and 205 45 tyres on it,it looks lowered but the wheels fill the arches enough.
Luigi

Your van sits the same as mine on the 17's. It looks nice, but I want the arches to sit closer to the tyres! I'm looking at 60/40mm spring kits but dont know if that will be too much. The vans sit higher than corsa's to start with, so dont want to find that a 60mm drop on a cosrsa is a 100 mm drop on the van!

Good news is that my Cooper S split rims are off being refurbed with anthracite centres and polished lips, and my custom adapters are being made and they should all be done by the end of next week! I'm hoping that my calculations and measurements were all ok! The wheels will end up being et30, and when I measured the bravo wheels they came in at et31 so the new wheels will only sit 1mm further out. Need to get some suspension sorted out so that I can fit everything at the same time.

2 posts to go after this and I can put a pic up of how the van looks at the moment!! I dont know what to do with the springs... I did a random google search and came across a peugeot forum where someone said he had fitted coilovers to a bipper, but he'd only got one post and that was ages ago so I didnt see the point in signing up to send a pm.

I'd imagine that it's a case of using the front springs and shocks, and just the adjustable rear spring with standard dampers as they are fixed to the body top and bottom, and dont go through the rear turret. Havent actually looked under a corsa or grande punto to see how the shocks fit, but imagine that the tops bolt through to inside the car...

Think I'll end up being cheap and just going for the Lo spring kit on ebay!!

Been keeping my eye out for a qubo front bumper on the internet, but not having any luck. Will have to start looking at breakers yards. Would my van be pre-wired for fogs, or would I need a loom too?

I know the guys at my local vauxhall dealer,i'll pick there brains about the rear springs and shocks on the corsa
Regarding your fog light intention, there is no wireing i could find when i looked into it,aparantly fiat do a a kit you can get to do this which includes light pods which you have to drill into the bumper under the headlights, i was going to do this but mae them running lights instead.

I wondered about the fog light thing and putting DRLs in the sockets BUT when my van came and I hadn't specced foglights, there are no sunk holes for fogs anyway. If you don't ask you don't get and the foggers go in preformed sunk holes in that HUGE bumper (the one thing I don't like about the van)

So you can stop worrying right now :)

There are 7 front bumpers on ebay - one here (s/h) with fog holes and one here (new) without. I'm amazed at the price. £58 for something so large - I'd have expected twice that and more.
I still think I'll get mine sprayed the same colour as the van. Having seen the Fiorino (derivative) in another thread, the all-over-red looks really good, rear bumper too. I look at mine a lot and wonder what to do to get that huge 'weight' look off the front and I think self-colour is the only way. One other thought I had was to colour it down from the top as far as the wheel arch height just to get a bit of continuity in colour, look less 'plasticky'.
Hard to do though as there isn't a natural line where to stop. The overriders are integral so they're not really an outstanding feature. I'd wondered about white tape on them to give it a break-up line but my van isn't white..ah pants!

RVM, thats the bumper that is on my van now, I want the bumper off a qubo or nemo multispace. It has the bigger grill and is fully colour coded. I like the big bumper look of the van, and the qubo bumper is even bigger!!

Luigi, thanks, that would be great if you could ask! I have also though about running drl's in instead of fogs. would be a much cheaper option. Wouldnt need the loom or new switched inside. Can pick up some round 4 LED drl's on ebay for not too much. food for thought.

I have to take my van back to Citroen for a recall (needs a replacement rear beam as apparently the welds have started to fail on them... Have fiat issued this recall too?) and am going to ask for a price of a new bumper. I also want to get the Citroen roof rails. Not keen on the silver Fiat rails the citroen/peugeot rails are a lot more stealth in black. I have a gen Citroen full roof rack on at the mo, and its so noisy and cains fuel!! I dont use it enough to warrant keeping it on.

Have been looking on corsa d forum and have found this.

So the rear socks fit to the top of the turret, completely different to the van.

coilover kit

Been looking at this kit on ebay. I'm hoping that the front shocks are straight replacement, and then just use the rear springs with the adjustable platforms. If it come to it, I'm sure that I can get some uprated shocks made to spec somewhere...

Got the 18's on!! They are looking pretty damn good to be honest! Will get some pics this weekend once I've given the van a wash.

Desperately need to order some springs now though. Anyone got any idea how much this one has been lowered by?

Am thinking of getting losuspension.com springs off ebay. Have seen the corsa d kit that lowers 60mm front and 40mm rear.. Just hoping that they wont put the van on its subframe!!

So a little update. Have had the wheels on for a while now just haven't taken a photo yet!

18in 2 piece BBS Mini Cooper Works alloys on custom wheel adapters.

Have got Corsa coilovers in the garage waiting to be fitted. Need to get the van in for a recall first though. Needs a new rear beam! While it's at citroen I will order new front top mounts and brake discs/pads so I can fit them at the same time as the new suspension. I've also got a qubo bumper complete with fog lights that needs to be painted and fitted. Progress is slow, but its getting there!

Spot the difference.....

Before

After

Nothing major, but it's the little details that make the bigger difference.

Also had it loaded up with tiles today. Looks solo much better with the bumper nearer the ground!

Yeah I think that's what I paid for mine. Got them from a dutch company on ebay a couple of years ago. Haven't seen them on there listed since though..
