Hiya folks.

Wanting to swap the ECU on my mk2 1.2 bravo, to see if it fixes a particular problem.

Wondering if anybody could advise me on a few pointers;

Does it have to be of the same engine size?

Is there something that has to be done with the key from the old car??

Is it a big job switching them???

what problem? the high emissions?

Yes Mike for the emission problem.

Have tried everything else; MAP, CAT, LAMBDA, full services, gallons of Red ex.
Still no joy so an ECU swap is my last attempt before I have to relunctantly have to scrap her

Anybody know if it is possible to fit a second hand ECU to your motor??

Two ways:

1. getting a piggy back ecu and trying to set the engine parameters
2. swapping the ecu, but then you need key(s) with it, as the immobilizer code is integrated in it.

So if I was to straight swap an ECU id also have to change the immobiiliser and ignition barrel.
Is that correct?

Ignition barrel and ECU, the immobilizer is integrated in the ecu.
