Hi is there any way of doing my own diagnostics check on the bravo 1.6 1998? It's the 3 pin connector.

What wiring, software, connector, etc would i need and is it possible to run it through an up to date obd reader with the right software?

Cheers.

yeah mate type in vagcom kkl on ebay, get that lead,

then software is

www.fiatecuscan.net

you would have to check on fiatecuscan.net
compare it with your ecu

Ta mate.
I assume i find the model number on the ecu itself.
Is it behind the glovebox, inside the car?

Hi all
Just wondering if anyone knows if you can reset the airbag light using this combination of cables and software? (vagcom & 3 pin adapter & fiatecuscan) its for a '97 p reg car.
seem to be loads of threads that end with 'get a dealer to do it'
i also read you might need to solder some pins together to access the airbag function?
i have the leads on order anyway but would like to know in advance
any help would be much appreciated
thanks

ant the ecu on the 155 hgt is in the engine bay mate,

rear centre of the bulk head, more towards the engine. it has 2 large plugs comin off it

Sorry to butt in chaps but the airbag port isn't one of the ones under the bonnet..! It's located behind the center console. In the drivers side footwell there is the small end panel next to the rest pedal - Remove that. That's where the airbag sensor module is. Put your hand in that gap & feel for the cables coming from the sensor module, one will pull loose (Obviously DONT unplug anything tho) & you should find a port to put your OBD thingy/cable into to be able to reset the airbag light.

Nice1 chaps......

Kee.

think im gona get these myself, saves going to a garage :) downloaded that program now anyway so i got it.

Cheers for the heads up ant

A Fiat Marea in a Bravo Shell..its good to be different ;)

Looking at the fiatecuscan site, my ecu is compatable, but only with the paid software.

Not something I want to pay out for for functions that may not work . grrrr

I got the 3 pin cable and the kkl one too.
Has anyone ran this on windows xp before?
I can get it running but it's saying it can't connect to the ecu.

Its a 98 1.6 bravo

Where on my 2000 1.8 hlx can I find the obd 16 pin port? I can't find it anywhere

Thanks

Kris

kris,

chances are your car wont have the 16 pin,

however there are several connection points on the car, fiat used a 3 pin connection usually located near the fuse box in the engine compartment, there are a few there its just a matter of gettin the right one, there is one located under the glove box,

on the jtd there is a 16 pin obd located under the steerin colum near the fuse box and its also on some of the 1.2's

hope this helps

I have my cables (3 pin and generic vag com)
but struggling to install drivers.
Used ross tech ones and when connecting up in car, press connect in ecuscan software and just get cannont connect, although port is correct, ignition on and red and black leads from 3 pin connector connected to battery.

Any ideas?

Sorry if thats a bit vague

Got mine all hooked up and working fine using the above, but i've yet to try the airbag ecu as i've heard it can cause it to go off if not connected properly!

Do you need to solder anything if you've got the OBD and Fiat 3 pin adapter? Or is it just for cars that only connect with the OBD 16 pin connector?

I've solved my ABS issue already using the software :)

FYI the 155 (VIS) HGT can't be read by any currently available software. Can 147 HGT can be read with Barnacle's StarTrek software for the Fiat Coupe NA 20v. I was thinking about writing some for the 155 but haven't been bothered as yet :p
