Is there anyone with coupe 20vt alloys on their bravo and what size tyres are they using. Im refurbishing a set and will be putting them on my Jtd. It tried them with the coupes standard 205/50 tyres and they were definatly to big for the Jtd. I mean would'nt fit!

Oh yea, I'll put up pics of the refurb soon, they'l be sprayed black to go on my white Jtd.

Oops sorry mod's, forgot to put a title on that post, it should be 'coupe 20vt alloys on bravo' :)

205/45R16 work perfectly, had them on a 1.4 bravo, 2.0 20v mare and a HGT. :)

Ok heres the work Ive being doing on the 20vt alloys so far. Its not terribly difficult, but does take a lot of time if you want a nice finish.

Heres the wheels as I got them, and Ive resto'd one already. They've got the usual kerbing.

As I dont have a sandblaster , I cleaned what dirt and accumulated brakedust off them first, then used a small grinder and wire wheel to completly clean the inside and scuff marks on the front. Then I sanded them inside and outside. This took a lot of time.

thats good that mate, get some pics of when there complete,

what filler do you use , i may do my coupe wheels

Looking good but when do we get a copy of the "how to fit ABS to the Bravo" guide. Been waiting ages but no upload from yourself.

My coupe wheels are running the standard 205/50s and I don't have any trouble with them at all. The restore looks really good so far would like to see them finished
It seems everyone wants coupe turbo rims at the moment I think they do look good and suit the marea. Since i got mine over a year ago everybody wants them

Cheers andy

Ye Andy its cars like yours that Ive got my inspiration for the alloys, plus they will fit over brembos which I'll be fitting in the future, my Jtd is fast and I like to see big brakes up front.
Im not driving the bravo at the moment, Ive got a workvan.
As for the Abs guide, Im a busy man so have never got round to it, sorry. But basically I took everything off my old Jtd.

You will need:

1. Complete rear swing arms, as these have the mounting holes for the sensors.
2. Rear ABS hubs.
3. Front Hub carriers and ABS hubs.
4. ABS module.
5. Sensors and wiring to the control module.
6. Fuses and other assorted wiring to battery etc.
7. Make up new brake lines.

On the bravo and other older cars the Abs system is independant of the ECU so this makes it easier. You will need to make up all new brakelines, there will now be only 2 coming from the master cylinder to ABS module, and you can leave out the compensator at rear.

It was a while ago so Ive probably forgotten some stuff.

Used normal bodyfiller. Started spraying them today so will get pics up when finished.

I also have 16" alloys, 205/45 fitted perfectly but ET is 35. (strange that 50 are too big for you). Can I lower it 40 mm? maybe someone already lowered with this offset?

mine has 205/ 45/17 tyres and is lowered 60mm so yeah you can drop it ed, there is no rubbing atall, or catching ,

Don't bother with the brembo's, they are not worth the effort! Fit Marea 130 JTD brakes instead. The brakes on my 130 are far better than my 20v Turbo brakes. Plus I know several GTV owners who say the same. Wheels are looking good, I didn't put half the effort that you have, into refurbing mine, and they still took several evenings!

Thanks Jason. My bravo is lowered 30mm. After much preperation I sprayed two coats of some VW colour my brother had left over from his Mk2 golf. Its a nice gloss black, but I had runs on the finish, ran out of paint and my spraygun is too big and crap. So Im getting a professional sprayer to to them. Wont cost much as Ive flatted them back with 800 grit.

On the coupe brembos, I just think they look cool, Im not really that impressed with them on my 20vt, I thought they'd pin ya to the road. I take it jtd-130 callipers are the same as on Hgt and 20v mareas, they wont fit the Jtd, I tried before.

Collected the alloys today and Im happy with the finish. Now need to get some tyres and wheelbolts, paint the wheelbolts and centrecaps and the bravo will look savage! Also gonna get some autoglym product to protect them.

those wheels are fantastic could eat your dinner off them they are so clean and shinny

and yes the coupe 16" wheels do fit with out problems on a 1.6 my marea is a 1.6 and have no probs at all
