Should I Buy A 'Cat C' write off?

Hi.. im thinking of buying a 2001 hlx but ive just found out it was a write off in November last year. Apparently the passenger side door and the rear wing were impacted but it looks fine and has a full MOT. Any advice? Should i steer clear? Its only done 41k and looks immaculate. I almost wish i hadnt been told!

Nothing wrong with that so long as it has the certificate stating that it has been repaired and tested. Check the insurers mind because some of them will not touch a cat c

lets start on a postive note, imo there is nothing wrong with buying a cat c as long as its all been sorted, i have one question, how did you find out it was a cat c? ie did the seller tell you or have you done a check on the car? if the seller has not said anything ask yourself why not? is there anything eles wrong with it etc etc.

also how much is it going for if you dont mind me asking..

there is nothing wrong with buying a cat c write off my marea was a cat c all you need is the vic check paperwork and the current mot to prove its roadworthy and yes there are some companies that wont touch cat c or d's but shouldn't be a problem if you have the vic certificate give your insurance a ring and give them the reg number and tell them its a cat c and see what they say

DVLA will have the info on it. I had a cat c astra at one time. saved a lot of money and was repaired to the required standard and a certificate issued
